Wayne S. King

Wayne S. King, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather went to be with his lord and savior on November 12, 2002 at the age of 79.  He passed away at Kadlec Hospital with his loving wife and children at his side.

Wayne was born December 29, 1922 to Ray and Wassa King in Humansville, Missouri.  He worked on the family farm until he joined the CCC in 1941.  He then moved on to East Belvedere, California and worked for B. F. Goodrich where he met his loving wife, Barbara R. Camp.

He joined the U. S. Air Force in February 1943.  He was stationed at several bases in the U. S. and in France.  He was honorably discharged on December 10, 1945.  He moved to the Tri-Cities in 1946 and worked as a lineman in the Hanford area.

He was a member of the Benton City Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, and member of El Katif.  He retired from the Bonneville Power Administration in 1984 as an electrician lineman.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in the outdoors with his wife and family.  He was a very hard worker in all things he did, and he loved to keep busy.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara; son, Robert King of Rathdrum, Idaho; daughter, Patricia Douglass and husband, Paul, of Benton City; daughter, Nita Merk and husband, Larry, of Kennewick; grandchildren, Laura, her daughter, Jordan, and husband, Jim Leland of Omaha, NE, Shannon King and son, Parker of Kirkland, WA, Angela Lainhart and her two children of Spokane, WA, Crystal King of Spokane, Brian Douglass, wife, Tammy and their children, Emma and Benjamin of Poulsbo, WA, Amy Douglass of Hillsboro, OR, Andrea Vickers and husband, Brian of Reno, NV, Michael Merk of Kennewick, WA; and his beloved cat, Pinky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and a daughter-in-law, Darlene King.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS church at 1321 Jadwin Ave. in Richland.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the viewing on Friday, November 15, 2002, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Einan’s Funeral Home, Richland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Shriner’s Children Hospital, P O Box 2472, Spokane, WA 99310-2472.

He will be missed by his loving family.

  • Barbara and Wayne have been our neighbors and friends for 40+ years. I will miss all the litte things. That morning wave I would get from Wayne on my way to work.The wonderful peaches he took such pride in and seeing him sitting in the back yard brushing Pinkie.We have been blessed to have such good neighbors and friends.
