Halsey M. Franklin
Our mother, grandmother, dear friend and most of all, a precious child of God, Halsey M. Franklin passed away peacefully on January 16,2003 at Richland Life Care Center.
Mom was born in Payette, Idaho on January 7, 1921. She is preceded in death by her mother, Vesta Miller, stepfather, Fred Miller, husband John Benjamin Franklin and sister Bernice DeCant.
There were a few things in life mom took particular pleasure in, such as telling people about Jesus in her own subtle way, sitting for hours on end watching her grandson Tony play baseball or playing any game, be it dice, cards, dominos or a word search.
Mom grew up in Cascade Idaho where she enjoyed snow skiing, proudly taking first place in the downhill three years in a row. Mom also loved ice skating at the saw mill pond. She loved sitting around telling stories about how she built her own snow skis, chopped the wood for her family and helped her grandfather assemble the Model T automobile they purchased.
Mom is survived by her brother Raymond Sargent of Seaside, OR., her children and their spouses, son Grant Franklin and wife Florence of Vancouver , WA, son John Franklin and wife Betty of St. Helens, OR, daughter Vesta Slater and husband Rick of Richland, W A and son George Franklin of Kent, W A. Grandchildren and their families, Tony Rodriquez wife Jenny and daughter Sabrina; Jennifer Rodriquez Jackson and her children, Kirsten and Mitchell; Brenda Johnston and her children, Brad and Jessica; Johnnyray Franklin, wife Eileen and their daughter, Jessica; Grant Franklin, Jr. and his daughter Amanda; Joe Franklin wife Gennafer and their children, Jessalyn and Justus; and many special friends and family members.
Mom was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Richland, W A. She had numerous friends and loved ones there. A special thank you to Pastor Mike Gilchrist, Rick Terrazas and Joyce Rust.
We want to give a special thank you to Beverly Health Care Alzheimer's unit staff for the love, care, concern and comfort you showed mom. Your good deeds will not go un-rewarded. What a blessing you were in her life for 2 1/2 years. We would also like to say thank you to the Richland Life Care Center staff for showing mom so much loving care for the brief time she was with you.
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 21,2003 at 10:30 am at Temple Baptist Church at 4555 Keene Road, Richland, W A. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Benton Franklin Humane Society.
Mom I wanted to let you know that your memorial service was awesome. Pastor Mike gave a salvation message. I’m hoping it touched an unsaved persons heart. The testamonials given were so good. I doubt you never realized just how you touched so many lives. I know you would have liked how the services went. Diedre Beck and Scott Baker sung the songs you wanted. Both singers were wonderful. There were over 60 people at the services
It is getting harder now realizing you are truly gone. I keep wanting to go checkup on you. That now is totally in the Lord’s hands and I know he will do an amazing job of taking care of you. You would of been proud of Tony & Jennifer. They both helped out so much. They were solid rocks. Rick was by my side at all times. He helped me in so many ways. He loved you too. Mom, writing is theraputic and it helps writing it down. Mom you are missed and I’m so sorry I couldn’t have done more for you. Until I see you in heaven may God’s blessing continue to shine in your life and may the work you did on earth will continue to influence others in a positive way. Bye for now.

Mom there are many things about you I will miss. My grief for you is great BUT, at the same time, it will be easier knowing you are with our Saviour. For that I will be eternally grateful. I know I’ll get to see you when it is time for me to go home. Until then, I will try to keep in mind in whose company you are in.
I am wondering who you are playing dice with? I love you and miss you.
Grandma, thank you so much for all the love you gave me and my children. You have provided us with lasting memories. I will have that twinkle in my eye now when I say “that ain’t fittin’ ta eat.” I will miss you dearly. I am sad that you are not with us anymore, but I am at the same time excited to know you get to be with Jesus and you get to see Grandpa again after 26 long years and you get to be with your mother. I look forward to seeing you in heaven one day. I thank you for giving life to my mother so she in turn could give me life and in turn, I was given two beautiful gifts that will walk with me for all eternity. Thank you Grandma. Love you always, Jennifer…God Bless us all
