Anne V. Bucchianeri
Anne Bucchianeris loving giving soul went to rest on Saturday, March 22, 2003 at the Hospice House in Kennewick, WA. Losing her final battle with the pain of severe arthritis, blindness, and many other failings of age, she was hospitalized for over a month before briefly experiencing the gentle care of the Hospice staff. She was devoted to her family and to the Catholic Church, and was kind to everyone. She enjoyed flowers, and aside from having the prettiest garden in the neighborhood, she made beautiful pressed flower pictures and stationery, which she gave to people that she loved.
She was born to Michael and Helen Karllo on March 9, 1921, in Monongahela, PA, and lived for a while in Pennsylvania where she married Joseph N. Matty, who was the center of her young life. Together, they built their house in Monessen and raised three children in a home full of love. After he died unexpectedly in 1959, she continued to keep their beautiful home for the children clean and neat, but she also maintained the roof, shoveled coal for the furnace, and cooked food that was legendary throughout the family. In 1976, she married Michael A. Bucchianeri, her sisters widower and a former Green Bay Packer. With Mike, she lived in Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, and finally, Florida, where she nursed him through his final years with Alzheimers Disease. In every place that she lived, she made friends with her neighbors, her pastors, her hairdressers, the grocery store staff, and everyone else who needed a friendly wave and smile. Two years ago, because of her advancing arthritis and blindness, she moved to Washington, where she lived with her eldest daughter and son-in-law. Her life revolved around her husbands and children, her church, and her friends.
She is survived by her three sisters: Susan Habig of Hackensack, NJ, Bert Carlson of Ocala, FL, and Wil Klein, of Seattle, WA; her three children and their spouses: Jo and Jim Ferguson of Richland, WA; Kathy and Ric Fernandez of Burke, VA; and Dave and Jane Matty of Mt. Pleasant, MI; her three step-children: Patricia Wolfgram of Midland, MI, Mike and Pat Buchanan of Tampa Bay, FL, and Tom Buchanan of Chicago, IL; and eight grandchildren and her new great-grandaughter, Thea; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
After her cremation, a brief service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Richland on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at 6:15 p.m. Father Nico Milich will lead the brief prayer service, along with the Eucharistic minister, Joan Rudd, who was one of her dearest friends in the Tri-Cities. Her remains will be sent to Monessen, PA, where arrangements are made for another brief private service and her burial at Grandview Cemetery, next to her first husband, Joe.
She always loved learning, and the computer was her most recent technology advance. To share in her joy of learning, express your thoughts and prayers in the online Guest Book at www.einansfuneralhome.com.
Contributions in her name can be sent to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House, to the Shrine of St. Jude, or to the Alzheimers Foundation, her favorite charity.
