Gerald ”Gerry” Zuelow
Gerald Gerry Zuelow, a Richland resident for 47 years, died on March 21, 2003 at Good Samaritan Health Center in Eugene, OR. He was 92.
Gerry was born November 17, 1910, the youngest of five children, in Casselton, N.D. to Louis and Hannah Pepper Zuelow.
He was an Eagle Scout, graduated from Fargo High School, attended N.D. State College and graduated from Interstate Business College. He married Dagny Sherven in Glasgow, MT on July 15, 1934. They lived in Ft. Peck, MT from 1934-52 where he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers during the construction of Ft. Peck Dam.
He served in the Navy in W.W. II from 1943-45 and saw combat during the invasion of Peleliu.
Gerry enjoyed music, travel, camping, gardening, photography, building, and could make or fix just about anything. He was a clarinetist in the Mid Columbia Symphony and a member of the Richland Lutheran Church for 50 years.
Dagny preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 1983.
Survivors include a son, Richard Helen of Kirkland, WA, a daughter, Diane JerryDiethelm of Eugene, OR, and three grandsons.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday March 29 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland. A memorial service will follow at Richland Lutheran Church at 2:00 pm.
