William “Bill” Strange, age 99, of Hagerman died Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at his residence. Bill was born May 4, 1903 in Draper, Utah one of 10 children born to Thomas and Annie Peterson Strange. He was raised in the community of Lund, Idaho near Lava Hot Springs. It was in Lund that he attended school.
As a young man he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he ran a beauty salon. He later employed a young girl named Fay McMillan whom he married on Aug. 28, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah. After their marriage the couple resided in Murray, Utah where they resided until 1953 when they moved to Hagerman, Idaho. Fay preceded him in death in 1976. Bill loved ranching, cattle and horses. For many years he barbered at the Y-Inn Café in Bliss. It was 1980 that Bill married Louise Huffman in Hagerman, she preceded him in death in 1988. Bill is survived by 2 sons; William M. Strange of Jerome, Idaho and John Thomas Velma Strange of Fremont, Neb.; daughter, Penny Dale Turner of Hagerman; sister Josie Anderson, Midvale, Utah; 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 10, 2003 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hagerman, Idaho with Bishop Mike Owsley officiating. Burial will be in the Hagerman Cemetery in Hagerman, Idaho. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Demaray Funeral Chapel in Gooding and prior to the services at the L.D.S. Church.
