  • Reba and Bill Helgeson,

Reba, I am sorry for the loss of your Aunt Josephine Elfreda Russell Allen. She is at peace now with no pain. Although Josephine probably knew little about life around her and what you did for her over the years because of her illness, I know she was aware of the extra love and care you gave her at her home, the Vinyard Family Home, the Beverly Nursing Home, and the hospital so that she was more comfortable. As an avid radio listener, I know she enjoyed listening to the radio you brought her so she could listen to her favorite programs. I know she felt the warmth of the robe and afghan you brought her. I know she felt the softness of your hands as you sponged her face in the hospital. You sure gave those doctors and caregivers a hard time, but you demanded she be cared for properly. I know she left this life feeling your presence and that she was loved. She loved you too. After all, whose house did she call all the time, even by mistake?

Bill, what would Josephine have done without you all those years after Tommy passed away? You were always there when she really needed a helping hand to fix this or that. She had a lot of fixing to do!

Reba and Bill, your love for Josephine was unconditional because most of the time she was too sick to love anyone back. But I know she felt your love for her through your actions. I have my own fond memories of Josephine, being a part of your family for so many years. Her great-great nephews Jordan and Kyle will always remember visiting Josephine. Thanks for making her a part of their lives. Family is important to them.

    Your Daughter-in-Law,

    Jennifer

  • My deepest sympathy and condolenes go to the Allen family. It is a sad time when you lose someone we love and want the pain to leave. And we need something to bring us comfort, and I hope this will ease that pain knowing the bibles promise at Revelation 21:3&4. And may the God of all comfort be with your family.

    With Deepest Sympathy,

    J. Knoble

  • Josephine, I don’t know if you would like being “Elizbeth” or not. Elfreda fit you much better.

We have been within a few miles of each other all our lives. There being only 13 years between us, that is a lot of living. We had a major disagreement in the last years but that did not stop me from caring about you. Your last words to me told me everything was ok. When I was helping you with your lunch at Beverly and the Nurse wanted to know my relation to you. I told her I was your niece etc. etc. and that I love you . You gave me the Russell twinkle smile and said: “You lie”.
