Dennis D. Hoxie

Dennis D. Hoxie, 69, passed away on December 25th, at his house in Finley. Dennis was born on November 19th, 1934 to Cecil and Laura Hoxie in Sioux City, Iowa.

Dennis moved to the Tri-Cities in 1971 and he retired from Sandvik Metals in 1998. He was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Tri-Cities Master Gardener Program with his wife Judith of 32 years.

Dennis and his wife, Judith, loved the outdoors, building gardens of vegetables and flowers. If Dennis wasn't telling you about his gardening he was showing it to you. You would always find yourself leaving with a trunk full of vegetables and fresh picked herbs from Judith’s garden.

He is survived by his loving wife Judith, his daughter Kim and husband David Faubert, and his daughter Amy Daland, his grandchildren Ryan and Eric Faubert, and his great granddaughter Angelina.

My Papa,

I will always remember going to the ''Blues'' hunting for mushrooms and your grandsons faces when they brought home bags of the treasured cauliflower and morel mushrooms.

I will always remember...sitting on your back patio, drinking a glass of wine and smelling the barbecue you and mom had made for all of us for dinner.

I will always remember picking bushels of apples on a cold fall morning and making fresh apple cider on an old cider press with yellow jackets dallying around.

I will always remember your last words to me... ''I love you baby girl''. ... I love you too Papa, God speed Papa, Grandma is waiting for you.

A rosary will be held Monday 7:00pm on December 29 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday December 30 at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with a reception to faollow in the basement of St. Joseph's. Inurnment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Tuesday December 30 at 10:00am.

  • Dennis was a great neighbor and friend, he loved plants gardening and animals. he was especially fond of my dog “Yo-Yo” We would talk frequently about how lucky we were to live in such a nice quiet neighborhood.

We will miss Denny as a fine man, a great neighbor, and a special friend. Sharon and I will try our best to help Judy in the future.

We will never go outside without appreciating the work Denny and Judy put into their landscape and home.

Denny will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

  • Our Family has so many memories with Dennis, He was like an uncle to all us kids. To know Dennis was to love Dennis, he was a wonderful person. I remember all the camping trip our famlies took, water skiing trips, they were all fun when Dennis was there. He will be miss by all that knew him.My deepest sympathy goes out to Judy and the family. God Bless the ones waiting to see him again someday.

  • The two trees Dennis gave me are still growing in our yard and will forever remind me of the love he had for nature. It was a pleasure to get to work with Dennis at Sandvik as he always made each day shine with his smile. He will be greatly missed.

  • Judy,

I just wanted you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Dennis was a wonderful Hospice Volunteer. He was always there when we needed him. His smile is etched in my mind, and is what I’ll always remember.

  • Judy, It was with much sadness that I read the obituary for Dennis in the paper. I didn’t realize how sick he had become in the past few months. I had to check with the Volunteer Coordinators to find out why I hadn’t seen him lately. He was always so wonderful and vibrant when coming to the Chaplaincy.

I will always remember the wonderful job you both did in caring for his Mother prior to her death. I just want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you today.

He served Hospice and the Chaplaincy very well and his smile is missed.
