Malcolm John Warn

Malcolm Warn peacefully passed into eternity December 15, 2003 in his home after a short battle with mesothelioma.

Malcolm was born in Plympton, England, February 22, 1936. His experiences as a child during World War II, when his home was destroyed by the Germans during the Battle of Britain, helped develop his sharp wit and independent spirit in later years. In the 1950s, after receiving his invitation letter from the Queen, Malcolm joined the Royal Air Force and was stationed in the Middle East and Africa. After leaving service, he attended college in London where he met Celine, his wife of 40 years. They were blessed with two children, Brian and Una.

In England, Malcolm was part of the development team that produced the Concorde. In 1969, he moved his young family to the United States, where he continued his career-long occupation as an engineer in the aerospace and nuclear industries. He and his family lived in several West Coast cities before ultimately residing in the Tri-Cities. Malcolm retired in 2001.

Malcolm is survived by his loving wife, Celine; son Brian Warn and his wife Renita; daughter Una Carriera and her husband Richard; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters in England, Dagmar, Evelyn and Kathleen, his brother Frederick, and their spouses; many nieces and nephews and other relatives in England, Ireland and Scotland. Malcolm was preceded in death by his parents Marie and Freddy Warn and his dear paternal grandmother, Eyre.

A rosary will be held on Wednesday, December 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Einan’s Funeral Home with a memorial mass to follow December 18 at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kennewick.

  • Dear Celine

I count the times that I walked to your home to visit some of my fondest memories. After you moved, I only got to see you in passing at supermarkets, etc., and I wish that we had kept in closer touch. I will miss Mal’s great laugh and quick sense of humor. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

  • To the family of Malcolm,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I pray the Lord comfort you and bring you peace during this time of grieving. I worked with Malcolm during the last several years he worked at Hanford. He was a character. I enjoyed his sense of humor and appreciated the work he did. I can sympothize with his and your struggle with mesothelioma. My dad passed away this last June with it and I know how quickly it goes. Again, my heart and prayers are with you.

    God bless you,

    Brian Smith

  • Celine and family,

We are going to miss Malcolm’s happy face as he toiled in the back yard. Indeed, we already do. He was such a friendly and pleasant person.

  • My Big Brother Malcolm was a lovely man. He always had a story to tell and told it so well, that it kept my interest to the end. I will miss him sorely. Goodbye Big Bro

  • Malcolm will be missed by numerous co-workers across the Hanford Site. His sense of humor was second to none. His stories and sarcasm were always welcome in a very frustrating and highly political government environment where no accomplishment goes unpunished. He helped everyone get through the day. We’ll miss you buddy, but your stories will live on.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Celine and family during this most difficult of times.
