On February 7th, 2004 at Avalon rehab in Pasco, Donn Edwin rode off into the final sunset of his life at the age of 68. Donn was born February 15th, 1935 in Spokane, Washington, and lived several places during his long and fruitful life including Tucson and Seattle--where he graduated from Roosevelt high in 1951--before finally settling in the Tri-Cities area. Donn earned a living making candy and then finally settled into the life care industry and worked for many years at the Life Care Center of Richland. Donn had a love for the stories, myths, and history of the old west, and was an avid Christian Scientist.
He was preceded in death by his Mother Esther Grady, his father George Grady, and his beloved father-in-law. Carl Amack.
He is survived by his wife, Ruthie Grady; his step-sons Marty and Hank, and their families; and Sharon McEroy, a friend of the family. He is also survived by many other relatives, friends, and acquaintances who enjoyed Donn's plucky sense of humor and indomitable spirit. Donn knew that without a final sunset to ride into, there can be no cowboys.
A celebration of life will be held at the Old Country Buffet on Columbia Center Blvd. and Quinault at 5:30 on the 15th of February.
All of those who knew Donn and would like to share in this celebration are invited to attend---at the request of the family, no black will be worn at this celebration.

you left before i knew

when they called they said you had gone
so i came as soon as i heard
i could not believe you hade left me
it had been two months since i had seen you last
i had all the time in the world to go see you
i chose not to
i will miss what i thought to be those corrny jokes
i never go to say i love you i never go t to say good-bye!

my grandpa had a great inpact on every person around him. he was loved by so many people. Donn was the kind of man how did not juged you by the way you looked. Donn once said if he was 16 he would marrie me, alls i could do was laugh. everyone said Donn was the funnies man they new. i say he was the most honest, carring, loveing, inthuseastic,and funniest man i ever new. Donn was the man i would tell my deep dark secerets to and he never told anyone. i never found out if he just forgot them or he did not say anything cause i asked him not to. Donn was a great man and will be miss, so much. the last time i saw Donn before he passed was the day before thaksgiving. i hade all the time to go and see him, but i did not want to. i thought i had more time to see him then i did. turns out i DID NOT and i regeret that i did not go and see him, i wish i had more time with my grandpa. so if you are reading this you should spend all the time you can with the people you love and care about. because you never know when they will ride off in to the sunset.leaving you to go to a place were the sun never stops shining and were they will be loved. Donn can now ride the horse of his dreams off in to the sunset, with all the other cowboies, DONN YOU WILL BE MISSED BY SO MANY PEOPLE, you changed many lives just by being a great friend. DONN I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART, AND I WILL MISS YOU. just rememer i told you this “there is NO GOOD-BYE’S just see you laters.” Donn i will take good care of our cat.

I HAVE LOTS OF GREAT MEMORIES OF DON. HE WAS A REALLY HAPPY PERSON KNOW MATTER WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM IN LIFE. HE WAS ALWAYS VERY POSITIVE AND LAUGHING AND SMILING.HE ALWAYS HAD A SMILE FOR EVEYONE. HE WAS A VERY GIVING AND LOVING PERSON VERY WARM AND CARING. VERY KIND AND THOUGHTFUL AND CONSIDERATE. HE WILL TRULY BE MISSED. I AM VERY DEEPLY SADDENED BY HIS PASSING.DON WAS A VERY SMART PERSON HE STUDIED A LOT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES. HE GAVE ME ALL HIS BOOKS I AM USING THEM TO STUDY DIFFERENT LANGUAGES TOO. HE WOULD TALK TO ME IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH IT MADE ME HAPPY TO KNOW THAT HE TOOK SO MANY DIFFERENT CLASSES. I THINK FEW PEOPLE HAD THE RARE CHANCE OF KNOWING THIS SIDE OF HIM. RUTHIE HELPED ME TO GET MY NURSING DEGREE.SO THAT I WILL ALWAYS HAVE A JOB. THEY BOTH TOOK ME IN AND LOVED ME UNCONDITIONALLY. AND GAVE ME A FAMILY TO LOVE AND WHO LOVED ME IN RETURN. THEY RAISED ME TOOK GOOD CARE OF ME.FOR THAT I WILL ETERNALLY BE GRATEFUL. I ONLY WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN HOME WHEN THE LORD TOOK HIM HOME I NEVER GOT TO SAY GOODBYE. Heaven

Donn was one the kindest and nicest persons that I had the pleasure of meeting. I hope that he does get to ride into the sunset with all of his cowboy buddies, that would be his dream come true. We love you and you will live on in your hearts forever.
Don was my father inlaw.He was a great man.The thing i remember the most was his jokes.How do you cook toilet paper?First brown it then throw it in the pot.That was my faverate one he told me.I will allways love that man!DON YOU WILL BE MISSED
