Doris Dimp Sutherland Willi
Doris S. Willi, age 82, went to be with her Lord on Saturday morning, February 21, 2004, in Richland, WA.
Doris was born November 23, 1921, and raised in Gillette, Wyoming. She was born into a family of eight children, including two sets of twins. Doris and her identical twin sister were called Dot and Dimples. As a graduate of the University of Wyoming, she taught as a physical education teacher and coach in Worland, Wyoming before coming to the Hanford Works in Richland, WA, in 1947 as a teacher.
On October 8, 1948, she married Jack C. Willi, an engineer on the Hanford Project. They were married by Pastor Grimsrud at Richland Lutheran Church.
They had a son and a daughter. They suffered from the loss of their son, Stephen, to a Boy Scout trip in 1965. She was especially close to him because she had nursed him after a premature birth to being a healthy Eagle Scout.
Dimp was busy running a preschool for 35 years and taking care of her home. She loved the companionship of friends, the people of Richland Lutheran Church, and Chapter DF of P.E.O. and another P.E.O. chapter in Wyoming. Dimp was especially glad to have her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter nearby in her later years. Dimp and Jack enjoyed trips abroad with a circle of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Eva Ludwig Sutherland, her brother, Ralph Waldo Emerson Sutherland Jr., and her sisters, Elaine Keeline, Virginia Saunders, Fola Ritter, Dorothy Dot Storm, Evelyn Goerke, Beula Brown, and her son, Stephen Willi.
Dimp is survived by her husband, Jack Willi and her daughter's family, Susan, Edward, and Kimberly Miller, all of Richland.
The church memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, at Richland Lutheran Church, 901 Van Giesen, Richland, WA. Interment will be next to her son in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland, Friday morning.
Memorials may be made to the Richland Lutheran Church Retreat Center, 901 Van Giesen, Richland, WA 99352.
Doris,Dimp,Mrs Willi, How time marches on, I remember spending a lot of time at your house when Steve and I were growing up. Those were the good times of youth. I remember the fire and all the tears shed for Steve and Mr Harvey. Your home was just like a second home for meny summers of our youth. Now time has taken you to join Steve, My Mom and Dad and our Son Michael who passed Dec. 26th.
Jack, and Susan our thoughts and prayers are with you, Just remember that she lives on in yours and others minds and hearts.

Jack and family –
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. We appreciate all that you and Dimp did for the Boy Scouts, especially Troop 248 while our son Ryan was a scout there. You both provided encouragment and support to a young man reaching for that Eagle goal. He did reach it and has turned into a fine young man. You can both be proud of your part in that.
