I think Gene and I worked the power department in the early 50’s together. I met gene once more when he and the others posted colors at our army reunions. He was a great guy. He will be missed by all that knew him. I hope he can rest in peace now.
Our sympathies go out to the family. Frank and Pat Trent.
RESPECTS.
SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE COMRADE.
A SHARP HAND SALUTE.
RESPECTS & SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE.
I am a member of Post 7952, but remember Gene most from a conversation we had in Hastings Book Store. He was looking for reference material that he could use in a speaking to a high school group on Americanism. Gene was truly one of the “Mr.Americas”. We exchanged views on how our grandchildren and gr-grandchildren are NOT being afforded what our great nation truly is or how it came to be. Made me proud to know a man of his calibre.
All I can say is I loved my Dad and I miss him. At least he went peacefully in his sleep and for that I am truly thankful. He didn’t have to suffer anymore than he already had. I miss you Dad. I hope I see you when I get there. Love, Deanna
Dad taught me, by example, that life is to be enjoyed. I’ll try to honor that lesson by looking ahead to the future, rather than mourning the past. He has simply changed his address and one day I’ll change mine to be with him.
