Charles Ernest Newton born May 3, 1920 at the family home in Cle Elum, Washington, the son of Ernest and Mary Milbrandt Newton and the brother to Lawrence, Harry, Alice, Thomas, Dorothy, Marie, Hazel, Herman, Edna, Bessie and Fred.

He attended Peoh Point School. During World War II he was a medic and was most proud of his service to his country.

Charles was part of a farming partnership with his brothers Thomas and Frederick. Together they farmed the 3 Bar N Ranches in Cle Elum, Moxee and Benton City. Charles lived on the Benton City ranch with his brother Fred and Fred’s wife Glenna, son James and daughters Linda and Diane.

Charles married the love of his life Ruby Elmore in 1972. Ruby preceded Charles in death on July 6, 1996.

He is survived by four loving stepchildren, Jerry Elmore, Rae Holmgren, Joann Scheer, and Alma Winklesky; six adoring grandchildren, Robert Holmgren, Anna Holmgren, Brenda Ellingsworth, Greg Scheer, Beth Lewis, and Christy Prince; and eight wonderful great grandchildren, Kathy Ellingsworth, Stacey Ellingsworth, Robby Lewis, Elisa Lewis, Heather Foster, Randi Rhoads, Zachary Prince, and Olivia Prince. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great and great-great, and very special friends Debbie and Bruce Shaw.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, wife Ruby Newton and granddaughter Jeanne S. Rhoads.

Visitation will be held on Thursday March 11 from 5:00-8:00pm at Einan’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday March 12 at 11:00am at Einan’s with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland.
