DIANE DUDLEY CHUBB May 11, 1935
In celebration of a life of great value. -In our loving memory-
Diane died at the age of 68. Her silent, courageous manner resisted a progressive illness which took her precious life from us.
Diane showed absolute resolve and grace in her battle with myelofibrosis and acute leukemia.
Diane was born in Portland, Oregon to Paul and Velma Dudley. Jack and Jerry, her older brothers, made up the rest of their direct family.
In Dianes early life the family lived in a number of locations, very typical of our Depression years, but her family life while living in a small cabin located on the beach in the Indiana Sand Dunes was most relished. In addition her grandparents lived close which enhanced her precious memories.
In the late 1940s the family moved to Richland. Jerry and Diane attended Lewis and Clark grade school, Carmichael Jr. High, and graduated from Richland High in 1954. Diane was a very accomplished ballet dancer and young instructor. Diane performed in a number of productions and was selected at a very young age to study for a career in dance, which she declined.
Ken, her husband to be, spotted Diane when she first moved to Richland. They became great friends, dated and married in 1956. Ken was fortunate their relationship developed into a golden, productive life with two wonderful daughters, Brenda and Kim.
Diane was extremely responsible and precise in her thinking, deeds and actions. She was very focused on her responsibilities as a mother to Brenda and Kim, as well as her responsibilities to her mother and father. Diane made things happen for the right reasons. She loved them all and was sensitive to their needs.
Diane is survived by her husband, Ken; her two daughters and their families, Brenda, Crage and Britt, Kim and husband, Randy; and her little Indian buddy Jerry-o-Dudley, Dianes brother.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Paul and Velma Dudley and oldest brother, Jack.
The poem below reflects Dianes love and strong feelings for our God, her family and friends.
Miss Me But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloomfilled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone. Its all a part of the Masters Plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely or sick of heart, go to the friends we know and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me but let me go.
To honor Dianes request, she will be cremated and buried at a later date. She also requested no formal services.
Please express your thoughts silently, she will hear and love you.
Diane is the forgotten Angel in a family filled with troubles. I am sure her reunion with her family in heaven will be joyful. May her daughters seek peace with these thoughts.
Heart felt condolences for you and yours.
Diane taught Dance with Jane Johnston in Richlnad back in the 50’s. I took ballet lesson from them when the studio was on GW Way – across from the old bowling alley. She was a wonderful teacher. Those were wonderful memories!!!…. I am so sorry for your loss…. My Dad, Howard Dains left us on Tuesday… They leave a “empty place” in our hearts. My Dad knew Diane also.. take care… Sincerely, Barbara
My loving thoughts and sympathy to all of you. Diane was a cherished dance student of mine when I first started teaching in Richland – I loved knowing and working with her. Her Mom was also a dear friend and supporter of my work.
Dear Ken, Brenda, and Kim:
Your friends in the Arabian Horse Club were so sorry to hear of Diane’s passing. We remember her fondly from the many years of horse shows and other horse-related activities we shared. She was a lovely person and we pray that you will find comfort in the memory of her love for you.
Ken, Kim and Brenda: It was such a shock to hear about your Mom/Wife. I will never forget the times I spend at your house with your mom. She always was their for her family and loved seeing them happy. She would do anything for you guys. She is going to be deeply missed but never forgotten. Our thoughts are with you always.
Ken, Brenda, & Kim – our thoughts and prayers are with you. We have such fond memories of our horse show days with your family. I will always remember the wonderful riding outfits that Daine made for the girls. May God’s love comfort you in this time of loss.
Dear Ken and Family,
We are saddended by this news and how Diane must have endured over the recent months. We all can take away some positive lesson from those who have been so brave in the face of a fatal illness. May God bless your family and give you strength.
Dear Kenny, Brenda and Kim, Don and I were so sorry to read of Diane’s passing. Although we haven’t been close in the past years, we do remember the good times we shared when our children were young. Diane was always the gracious hostess. We will remember her with fondness.
