Joyce L. Adrian

Joyce L. Adrian, 70, of Benton City, went peacefully to be with the Lord on April 16, 2004 at the side of her family and loved ones.

She was born on October 3, 1933 in Bismark, North Dakota to Matt and Lorene Leibel. Her adolescent years were spent growing up in the Tri-City area and attending local schools. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1951 and attended Columbia Basin College where she majored in her executive secretary skills. Her early adulthood were spent being married and raising her two children while working at the Federal Building in Richland as an executive secretary. In the early 1970’s she became a cherry orchardist.

Her proudest moments were being with her family and being involved in her church and promoting the Kingdom of God.

She was a member of City Life Fellowship Church in Richland, a board member of Women’s Aglow and a member of AARP.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Linda McFarland and granddaughter
Kristyn Joy; son, Thomas E. Adrian and his wife Linda and their children Michael G., Quaylin M., Lydia R., Matthew T., and Amanda J.; sister, Pat and husband Frank Collins and their children, John and wife Laura Collins and their son Jackson; Mark and wife Jeannie Collins and their son Brandon; Mike Collins; Valerie Collins and her children, Lindsey, Chad; Vicki Luna and her husband, Paul and their children, Christopher, and Ashley; and sister, Sherry Leibel. She is also survived by her stepsons, Jim Adrian and his children Beau and Breanne; Gary Adrian and his wife, Judy and his children Megan, Sydney, Allison and their mother Diedre; Rick and his sons, David and Sean; and great grandchildren Allisa and Braedan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Gerald D. Adrian.

Joyce loved all of her family deeply. She believed that all people were called to be part of the family of God. The desire of her heart was for them to know the same Lord and Savior that walked with her for so many years.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Saturday April 24 at 11:00am at the Columbia Four Square Church in Richland.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the City Life Fellowship Church in Richland.

  • Joyce has been such a wonderful blessing to me, especially as a new Christian. She was a friend, a mentor and a beautiful example for me and so many others. I know the Lord put her in my path to help lift me, lead me and guide me with love and prayer and a wonderful sense of humour. We’ll all miss her being right here, but she’s left her special blessing with all of us and I’m so thankful for the time we shared. Blessings to you, Linda and Kristyn and all the family. You’re in my prayers.

  • Our deepest sympathy to the family on the passing of Joyce. We know that her faith has kept her strong and we hold comfort in knowing that she is at peace now.

We have many precious memories of those days on Davenport Street, as you kids grew up. Altho we have somewhat lost contact we have thought about and remembered stories that are precious to us.

May all of you take comfort in knowing that many friends have you in their thoughts and prayers.

  • Linda, I am praying that the Holy Spirit will comfort your heart & the hearts of your family. I met your mom when I first moved to the Tri-Cities. We were in a Bible study together & shared a lot of laughs & prayers.

She was a brave lady taking on the orchard & learning everything the hard way. She never lost her faith or her humor. I will miss seeing her at all the Christian events. She was always there with a smile & eager to learn what God was saying. Just think she is having a ball up there & the greatest thing of all is she is not shaking nor is she sick. God did truly heal her eternally & I know she is just enjoying every beautiful thing. Hugs Nanette

  • Linda–I first met your mom at a ladies’ prayer meeting at Pastor Schuetz’s house in the early 1970’s. Joyce Bangert took me there to hear your mom’s testimony which had deeply moved her the week before. This was a BIG step for us Baptists, but Joyce B. said that if we are going to spend eternity together, we might as well get to know each other now. I ended up in Bible Way with Joyce, and our paths crossed often after that: churches, cherry and plum picking, and investment seminar.

It was of interest to see that she grew up on Davenport with Doreen Hollenback Waldkoetter. In 1954-64 we lived across the street from Dorene and Gene, and they were our first son’s Godparents we were all Lutheran at the time. Small world.

It is comforting to know that Joyce is experiencing ALL of what she was seeking and believing for. May you feel God’s love and comfort.

My love and blessings to you, Linda, Kristyn, and the rest of the family.
