Fred Henry Cooper
Fred Henry Cooper, Jr., was born May 7, 1913 in Pullman, WA. to Fred H. and Bertha Ling Cooper. Fred died on Sunday May 16, 2004 in Pasco, WA., with his sons and family at his side.
Fred and Arlene Denlinger were married in May 1940 in Moscow, ID. Fred served in the Army from 1943-1946. A member of the 296th MP CO, he served in the European/African/Middle-Eastern theaters during WWII, and recd the American Theater Service Medal, the Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
Upon his return from the war, Fred spent the rest of his life in Eastern WA. God blessed him with a love for landscaping and roses which he shared with the City of Pullman, WA for 35 years, until retiring in 1976 as Supt. of the Water /Treatment Plant. While there, he transformed the Plant into a beautiful Rose garden oasis, often drawing appreciative visits from folks passing by on the Colfax highway.
After retirement, Fred and Arlene moved to Mesa, WA. They had been married over 55 years when she passed away in 1996. Daughter Nancy Lee Cooper died in March 2001.
Surviving are sons: Wayne Karen Cooper of Mesa, and Philip Glenna Cooper of Pasco; Grandchildren: Brad Cooper, Stephen Monti Cooper, Traci Sjaan VandenSteenhoven, and Jay F. Kara Cooper; Great-grandchildren: Branden and Brady VandenSteenhoven and Dillon and Logan Cooper.
There will be graveside services for family and friends at the Pullman Cemetery on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 11:00 a.m.
