David Zeno Rickenbach

EINAN’S FUNERAL HOME Our beloved husband, father and son, David Zeno Rickenbach, age 52, lost his courageous battle to diabetes on July 11, 2004. Dave was born on July 13, 1951, to Francis and Barbara Rickenbach in Pasco.

He attended schools in Pasco and graduated from W.S.U. in 1973 in Animal Husbandry. Following Dave’s education, he continued to work for McGregor Feedlot near Burbank. He traveled the Pacific Northwest buying cattle. He loved to share his cattle stories with anyone who would listen.

Dave married Karen Middleton in 1978. They were blessed with their children, Ryan in 1979 and Kari in 1982.

Dave began farming in Block 15 in 1982 and they purchased the farms in 1987. Dave loved the land and farming was his passion. In 2000, he returned to the cattle industry, where he became a cattle buyer for Bonina. Dave was an active member of the Benton-Franklin Fair Livestock Committee. He enjoyed being a part of the bi-county fair and working with 4-H and FFA children.

Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting and visiting with his friends at the livestock sales. His favorite childhood memories were the times he spent at his grandparents’ ranch in Benge.

He is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Kari of Eltopia, son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Kimberly of Kennewick, his mother, Barbara of Pasco, brothers Karl and Peggy of Kennewick, Mark and Judy of Richland, sister Vicki and John Myer of Richland, Sisters-In-Law, JoanJack of Kennewick, LauraChris of Spokane, Janet Rolo of Pasco, brothers-in law, Bill Cinda, Gary and Jim Ellen all of Pasco. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

The family would like to thank Brandie Didier, Joan and Jack Zimmer, Janet Esparza, Laura and Chris Law, Bill and Kathy Nuckolis, Bob and Nina Lundgren and Mike Chubb for all their never ending help, love and support during this difficult time. We also want to thank all the medical staff that helped take care of David.

The celebration of his life will be held at Faith Assembly Christian Center on Road 72, on Wednesday, July 14th at 11:00 am. Dave will be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

  • Kari,

Some of life’s struggles are predictable, and yet we somehow still just aren’t ready for them when they come down upon us. And, you’re in the midst of a tough one. The priviledges of sharing stable family and a faith-based upbringing are blessings dads are always an important part of. Although I didn’t know your dad, I know you well enough to know you’re an important and respected member of your community as a result of his being there for you and supporting you as you’ve grown up. Your supporting family is reflected in your eyes and ready smile.

I offer my prayers for you and for your family in this tough time.
