Douglas Ivan Paine
Douglas Ivan Paine, age 47, of Benton City, died July 15, 2004.
He was born December 6th, 1956, in Spokane, Washington. After his birth, he was adopted by Fred and Winnie Paine. The family soon added an adopted sister for Doug. Melodyann would become Dougs best friend in life and closest confidant.
As a child, Doug and his family moved to many places in the Northwest and once to Alaska. They finally moved to Benton City where he graduated from high school.
Born to be wild could often describe parts of Dougs life. He loved to watch auto racing and to drive fast cars himself. One of his softer sides of life was his love of animals. His pet Lynx cat, Aryaton, was his pride and joy. Doug was a very caring and intelligent person who will be missed by all who knew him.
Doug is survived by his parents, Fred and Winnie Paine, and a nephew, Jason Jahnke, all of Benton City; as well as a large extended family and a large group of friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his sister, Melodyann, who he will now join again in eternity.
Please come help us celebrate Dougs life Monday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Einans Funeral Home in Richland. Any memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
Although I didn’t know Doug well, what I do know is he was always kind and liked to have fun. “Born to be Wild” strikes me as an accurate describer for him. He will be missed by many.
I met Doug when I was a Police Officer in Benton City in 1978. We shared many memories when we both lived in Kennewick Washington and I watched him grow into a man and was last employed at a plant in Finley, he had a heart of pure gold and was one of my best and closest friends….one of my best memories is when he and his sister drove down to Reno, NV in his Orange camero in less then 5hrs, which was very fast and had a blower on it, we laugh so hard tears were flowing. I will miss him alot…i have been away for 11yrs and always remember Doug for his long hair and smile and tall skinny frame…we will miss him when I visit tri-cities this winter..my heart is sad, but he is with the lord and I will see him again…my sympathies go out to his family and every soul he touched with that smile of “oh well”…I love you Doug and miss you, I will always feel this day of July 19th for it is our wedding day of 33yrs and he always helped to party with us or made a attemp to call….Aloha my dear friend and we will see you laters
