Melford Niebuhr age 83, passed away at his home in Benton City, WA on July 16, 2004. He was born in Dakota City, Nebraska to Charles and Amelia Niebuhr, on June 11, 1921. He married Jean Yusten on August 30, 1941. They were married for 61 years, until her death in 2003.

Melford lived in Benton City for 37 years. He retired from Benton County Road Dept. as an Equipment Operator in 1983.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three brothers.

Melford is survived by his daughter, Barbara Jones and husband Roger, Son Dick and wife Peggy, Son Bob and wife Linda, sister Georgia Hatch. Grandchildren, Linda Thompson and husband Darin, Becki Shock and husband Ken, Bob Jones and wife Wendy, Richard Niebuhr and wife Lisa, Christel Urlaub and husband Brad, Deann Metz and husband Danny, Jason Niebuhr and wife Niki. Great Grandchildren, Amber, Erynn, Logan and Dylan Thompson. Larry, Bob, Randi and Chelsea Mauritson. Jesse and Mikaela Jones, Colleen and Ashley Urlaub, Allyssandra and Brandon Niebuhr, Brody, Hunter, and Alana Metz, Koby and Riley Niebuhr.

Melford was a loving husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa.

Graveside Services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Benton City on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at 11:00 AM.
