Joanne Marie Justin

April 24, 1933 October 19, 2004 Joanne passed away at Kadlec Medical Center on October 19, 2004. Joanne Walsh was born and raised in Kenmore, N.Y., a suburb of Buffalo, N.Y. She was the oldest of five children, Thomas, Patricia, Susan, William, Carolyn, and David, Janice. Joanne contracted Polio at the age of fifteen, and fought the effects of it the rest of her life. Jo was a woman of stature. She lived her life in pain, from the polio, but never complained. She was passionate about living life to the fullest, appreciating what it had to offer.

On October 13, 1951 she married James P. Justin and for 53 years they enjoyed each other's love and companionship as partners and best friends through joyful and challenging times. Together they raised four girls; Ruth Margaret Rick Swartout, Deborah Bruce Hamman, Carole Ann Gregory Taylor, and Kathleen Marie Dane Johnson. She has eight grand children, Alex, Michelle, Jeremy, Jimmy, Michael Lauren, Steven, Melanie, Katie and one great-grandchild so far, Garrett. She was first and foremost a wife and mother. When the girls started school, each day after school they would sit at the kitchen table with milk and cookies and talk about their day. All the girls have continued this tradition, right up to this month. Although, in recent years it has more likely been wine and cheese rather than cookies and milk. Every endeavor that Jo undertook, she excelled at with apparent ease, from cooking, to sewing, to the weaving of cloth, and stamping. The finished product was always perfect. This was her approach to life, in general, which could be difficult to live with, but always appreciated in the long run. We would like to the thank the staff at Kadlec Medical Center for their gracious support to Jo and her family during her time at the hospital. There was a public viewing at Einan's Funeral Home Hwy 240 & Swift Blvd. Richland, Wa. Friday October 22, 2004 from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Funeral Services was held Saturday at 2:00p.m. Einan's Funeral Home Hwy 240 & Swift Blvd., Richland, Wa. There was a reception following the service at The Hampton Inn, 486 Bradley Blvd, Richland.
