Marguerite Agnes Hutzelman

EINAN’S FUNERAL HOME Marguerite Agnes Marge Hutzelman was the first born of Clarance and Rolina Whiting on August 5, 1920, in Queens, New York City where she spent her early life and young adulthood. As a young woman, she worked in the trust department of the New York Chemical Bank, a financial institution, and volunteered in the USO during World War II.

Afterwards, Marge met Al Hutzelman, a friend and fellow war veteran of her brother, Gene. Marguerite and Albert Joseph Hutzelman wed on August 27, 1949. Her brother wed Louise Perry in November that same year, and the couples remained life-long close friends.

Marge and Al made their home briefly in Chattanooga, TN, and again in New York, where both their children, Janis and Chris, were born. In 1963, the family moved west to Richland, WA, where Al went to work as a professional engineer for Vitro, now Kaiser.

The family has made their home here since then. Marge was primarily a loving and devoted homemaker to her husband, children, their young friends, and assorted family pets. Marge also found time to volunteer with the Kadlec Auxiliary and was typist of the Kadlectern newsletter for a good ten years. She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary VFW and was treasurer of the Vitro Wives Club at one time.

Later in life, she had many happy memories from time spent with her step-grandchildren and circle of lady friends from the Nazarene church. Most recently, she attended West Side Presbyterian Church with a dear friend from the Vitro Wives Club.

Mom had a special kindness and wisdom, and always seemed to know the right thing to do for any situation. She was a lot of fun to be around with her sense of humor. She was adventurous with a love of traveling to new places and trying new things. Mom loved animals, having numerous dogs and cats over the years. She shared a special bond with her beloved Sheltie, Lena.

Mom had a genuine love for the arts and music. She also looked forward to her weekly visits with a younger woman friend who liked to call Marge one of the last great ladies.

Mom will be deeply missed by her surviving family, son, Chris and his wife, Donna, daughter, Janis and her husband, Doug Aardal, step-grandchildren, Eric and his bride, Sara, Michael, and Kevin Aardal and Shireen Bishop, and step-grandnephew, Randy Richter.

Marge was deceased on Tuesday, October 5th and was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Richard, both parents, her brother, Eugene, her in-laws, and her husband, Al, on September 15, 1992.

Viewing is on Thursday, October 7, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Einan’s Funeral Home, By-Pass Highway & Swift, Richland. Services will be held at Einan’s on Friday, October 8, at 2:00 p.m.. Interment will follow immediately in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House.
