Evelyn Eve Hamlin-Martin
Jesus called her home into his waiting arms after allowing her to have one more Christmas and one more Birthday.
Evelyn was born in Fulton Missouri, later the family moved to Canon City Colorado. She met and married George Hamlin, July 1936 and of that loving union they were blessed with their daughter Sherrill. They moved to Walla W-alla and then on to Hanford in 1948.
She worked as a bookkeeper at Deittrichs market. She later worked as a manager/buyer for Robinson's apparel in Uptown Richland. After George's death in 1976, she met and married Glenn Martin in February 1983. Glenn passed away in December 2001.
Evelyn was a beautiful, elegant, vivacious woman. She enjoyed life to its fullest. She didn't know a stranger, loved a good joke and had a witty comeback for everything. She was passionate about dolls, jewelry, dancing, crafts, animals and most of all her daughter and grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by daughter Sherrill Flora-Savery, granddaughter Cari Roy and her children Kendra Ridge, Tyler and Dustin Roy. Grandson Jeff Flora and wife Patti and their children Zak and Chase. Sisters Mabel Gaide and Phyllis Krasovic. She was preceded in death by Sister Doris Skinner. Evelyn left us with a legacy of love, life, and laughter together with dolls, diamonds and dancing. We will miss you Grama-Grama.
Memorial for friends and family will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Saturday January 8th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers send contributions to American Lung Association or the charity of your choice.
I had the pleasure of meeting Evelyn several times in recent years. Several things stand out in my memory. First you could line up Evelyn, Sherrill and Cari and debate who was the most beautiful. It was clear to see what the family genes had to offer. She was a strong lady who had a good time and a quick mind. I especially remember a group of us having lunch at Chez Chaz and she was the hit of the table! I know it is hard to take care of a relative in their declining years, but I am sure the family had no regrets for all their efforts, because she was a special person.
I met Evelyn when Sherril and
I were in High School and spent many hours at their home. She was a Mom that
everyone would want. She
made everyone feel special.
We had many nice chats while
she was working at Robinson’s
and whenever I would see her
through the years it was
always a very warm and positive experience.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I know they will miss her but can take comfort in knowing that she is free from pain and suffering.

I met Evelyn on several occassions while visiting Sherrill. I knew her as a beautiful sweet lady who suffered greatly from her disease, AND appreciated her daughter so much. My sympathy goes out to Sherrill and her family for their loss.
