Joseph Henry LaRue

Joseph Henry ‘Pap-Pap’ LaRue passed away on June 2, 2005 at his home in Benton City, Washington. ‘Pap-Pap’ was born on September 24, 1937 in Elstie, Pennsylvania.

Joe, his wife Micaela, and two daughters, Janet and Sharon, moved to California in 1961. He was employed in the Aerospace industry, and later earned his degree from Cal Poly, Pomona. He was employed with southern California Edison prior to moving to Richland, Washington in 1981.

While residing in Richland, Joe was employed by Hanford until his retirement, and later moved to Benton City, Washington.

Pap-Pap loved fly-fishing, both with friends and with his grandsons, making trips to various locations in Alaska, Montana and his home state of Washington, to pursue his hobby. An automobile enthusiast, Joe loved working on his 1963 Corvette, as well as long rides on his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife Micaela. But his most loved past time was driving long hours to watch his grandchildren participate in numerous sporting events. Pap-Pap was a chocolate and cigar aficionado who enjoyed quiet nights with a warm meal, his wife and TV remote by his side.

Joe is survived by his wife Micaela; two daughters, Janet Dennis of Port Orchard, WA and Sharon Mike of Umatilla, Oregon; brother, Jim LaRue of Pennsylvania; and two sisters, Lita Simendinger of Ohio and Linda Burke of Oregon. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Michael, Chad, Broc, Brandon, Katelyn and Brian.

Services will be held Thursday, June 9, 2005 at Einan’s Funeral Home in Richland, Washington at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
