Cheryl D. Mitchell

Cheryl Mitchell, 58, of Richland passed away at home July 10, 2005, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

Cheryl was born March 13, 1947 to Walt and Arlene Deery in Jamestown, North Dakota. As a young girl she moved with her family to Richland.

Cheryl attended Columbia High where she met the love of her life, Pat Mitchell. They married August 7, 1971 in Pasco and have made their home in the Tri-Cities area since.

Cheryl was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She lived to watch her granddaughters perform in Dance and Cheer.

She also loved gardening, reading, craft projects and motorcycle rides.

All through her fight with cancer, she never thought of herself, only the well being of her family.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Pat Mitchell of Richland; her daughters, Rachel Benjamin Jeff Johnson of Wenatchee, Anne Meyers Mike of Kennewick, Coleen Mitchell-Kensey Dwayne Kensey of Kennewick; her brother, Ken Tammy Deery of Mesa; her sister, Shari Riley of San Carlos Bay, Mexico; her mother-in-law, Catherine Mitchell of Kennewick; her six grandchildren, Anthony, James, Chelsea, Haley, Kaitlyn and Payton; also several nieces, nephews and their families.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her grandmother, Barbara Schiller, uncle, Harry Heretel, mother, Arlene Mineer and stepfather, Dale Mineer.
Cheryl’s smile, laughter and loving nature will be missed by all who knew her.

At her request there will be no funeral service, but a memorial for family and friends will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice Program or the Tri-Cities Cancer Center.

  • Ann, Colleen, Pat and girls, I am praying for all of you. Just remember that family can help you get through this, and we are all here for you. Let us know of anything we can do. I hope it brings you some peace in knowing that your loving mother, wife and grandma is in the loving arms of our Lord, and even though her life was cut way too short, what an impact she made on those who were close to her. Her life was filled with love and happiness, and pride – WOW was she proud of her grand-daughters! Her eye’s really lit up when the girls would dance! I love you all.

  • Dear Grandma,

It was so hard having to let you go and you are the best grandma in the world. I love you with all my heart. We had lots of good times and you did a lot of great stuff for me and I thank you for that. You loved me and took care of me like I was your daughter and I thank you for that too. You were loved by your family very much and by the looks of it you were loved by a lot of other people too. Thanks for being there when I needed you and when I was sad and unhappy, you were the one who would go on scary rides with me. I LOVE YOU WITH ALL OF MY HEART! And some day I will see you again. • Dear Mother,

I love you so much and I can’t write down in words how much I do. If I knew that it would have been the last time I’d see you, I would have come running back to hug you and I would have never let you go. I would have taken the time to remind you how much you mean to me and Thank you for being my friend and also the very best mother in the world. I love you Mom and I’ll see you when I get there. Please take care of my baby. Love Your Daughter, Coleen

  • My Dearest Mother,

Thank you so much for the wonderful life that we shared. Not only were you my mother but you are my best friend. I will miss picking up that phone each day to call you and talk. I know that there were days that we didn’t have much to talk about, but just being able to hear your voice and telling you that I LOVE YOU meant so much. I keep asking myself how I’m going to get through this without you, It’s going to be very hard, but then I know that I have so many wonderful memories that I can go back too. I know that you were worried about all of us, please know that it’s going to be very hard but we have a strong family and we’ll help one another out. Although you aren’t here with us, I know that you are happy in heaven with your parents and friends and out of your discomfort and pain. I love you mom with all my heart and just remember that we will reunite one day. Thank you for everything. YOU ARE THE BEST.

    Your Daughter,

    Anne
