Christine Louise Manolopoulos

Christine Louise Manolopoulos was born to Frederick Joseph and Juanita Ouren August 24th, 1950 in Richland, WA. She grew up in Richland and attended Richland Columbia High School, graduating in 1968. It was at Richland High that Christine met her husband Chris at a school dance. They were married September 19, 1970 in Richland. She started her family of 7 children two years later. Christine died Tuesday July 19, 2005 in her sleep at her Richland home.

Known to her friends as Christy, she was a loving wife, mother and friend. She taught us how to love, serve and to believe in ourselves as well as have faith in God. She supported us in all our endeavors and loved us through all our growing pains. She was a woman of faith; strong convictions and she never gave up on anything.

Christy was quite active with her talents through her life. She worked at Payless, JCPenny and Tastee Freeze where she utilized her skills to create signs and advertisements. Christy participated in her local church holding multiple callings and attending the temple regularly. She started her own daycare and then Little Noah's Ark Preschool. Dance Action was another business where she taught aerobics to many in the area for over 25 years. During the summer she would lead the Richland High football team in daily aerobics - once while 9 months pregnant.

Christy loved to bargain shop especially at yard sales. She spent her spare time enjoying her family and playing with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 35 years Chris George Manolopoulos of Richland, WA; son Zorba of Beaverton, OR; daughters Rachel of Seattle, WA and Sophia, Thera, Stefany, Elyse and Vanessa all of Richland, WA; Fathers Frederick Ouren of Dallas, TX and Alfred Taylor of Coalville, UT; Sisters JimaLee, Renata, Liz, Heidi; brother Fred and grandchildren: Braden, Johny, Bradley, Zachary, Jace as well as three to be born this year. She was preceded in death by her mother Juanita Ouren July 16, 1974. There will be a viewing where family will be receiving friends at Einan's Funeral Home from 6 to 8pm Friday, July 22 and at the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints Richland Washington Stake Center 1:30-2:15pm Saturday, July 23.

Memorial services will be at 2:30 PM Saturday, July 23 at the Richland Washington Stake Center corner of Sunset and Thayer in Richland. Graveside services will follow the memorial services at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland.

Memorials can be made to the local American Cancer Society 7325 W. Deschutes Suite A Kennewick, WA 99336.

  • It is hard to far away when you would like to be there in person to personally say good-bye to an outstanding person and good friend. Your family has been in my prayers that you will be comforted. I would like to have attended the funeral, but I was there in spirit.

  • I have wonderful memories of Christy as my aerobics instructor – and friend – at the Richland skating rink and at Spalding Elementary’s old cafeteria. She was truly inspirational! She never gave up on me, and I have thought about her many times over the years even though I’ve moved away. God truly blessed Christy. And to the family: she is dancing in heaven now!

  • Dear Manonopolous family. I have known Christy since grade school at Jason Lee, all the way through Col High. Even though we were never close, she always had a smile and was so friendly any place you ran into her. We would often see each other at Rocket mart and around town. She will always be remembered as a big part of the class of 68. Our prayers go to her family and to Chris. We pray for comfort and strength for all of you. My son Christian went to Jason Lee with Zorba. God Bless you all. Janis Cook Tames

  • Deepest sympathies go out to the Manolopoulos family. I was a member of Christi’s Aerobic Class years ago in the Rollarena/Spaulding School. She was a grreat life force, who gave much energy to her devoted followers. many people looked forward to her classes as the highlight of their day. It says alot when somebody can have such an influence on so many lives.
