From Richland, WA, US | Born in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada
Lin A. DeWitt
Lin DeWitt, longtime Richland resident, left this life on July 25, 2005, at home in the company of her adoring family. Lin was born in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada on February 16, 1945 and grew up in Kapuskasing, Ontario. She moved to Richland in 1963 site unseen following her fairy-tale encounter with Roger DeWitt and their marriage 11 days later.
In her 42 years as a Richland resident, Lin and Roger raised three children and welcomed eight grandchildren into their lives. She worked diligently over the years by her husbands side through the growth of their business, Total Energy Management, and taught aerobics and general fitness at the Columbia Basin Racquet Club with unwavering dedication for over 21 years. With verve and vitality this woman taught us how to live; with strength and grace, she taught us how to die with dignity.
Besides her solid core of cherished friends, Lin is survived by her husband, Roger; her eldest son, Brad and JJ DeWitt of Richland; her son, Aaron and Monica DeWitt of West Richland; her daughter, Sydelle and Morgan Wiser of Bellingham; her eight grandchildren: Alexis, Hunter, Kyler, Tanner, Rylee, Sydney, Austin and Cooper; her brother, Mike and Jocelyne Anderson of London, Ontario; her sister, Kris and Don Allen of Richland; and nieces and nephews: Siobhan Hutcherson, Lesley Anderson, Craig Anderson and Chad Allen. Lin was preceded in death by her father, Wilfrid; her mother, Beulah; and her brother, Sandy.
Viewing will be held from 3:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, July 28 at Einans Funeral Home, 915 By-Pass Highway, Richland, with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 29 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Kennewick.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to TEM Softball Bash for Cancer at any America West Bank, account #4600106357.
You can shed tears that she has gone, or you can smile because she has lived.
Grandma Lin! You have helped me grow and showed me what life was all about. I will never meet a stronger women then yourself, and you will be in my heart forever. You are my idol, and I hope that when we meet again I get to live the life and accomplishments you did. You are very well loved and GREATLY missed, You are and always will be my best friend. I know that someday I will have great stories to tell my children like the stories you told me about Beulah. There will never be a day that passes that you wont be in my thoughts. I love you with all my heart and I hope that someday I will become as good of a women as you. I will make sure Grandpa and Dad are good, just like I promised! I love and miss you Linny!
At CBRC, with hundreds thousands?of people who knew her, she always called me by name. I never heard her say a mean word about anyone. Loved her constant patter as she taught aerobics, stories about doing the chicken dance at the Sausage Fest, how her kids son? pretended he was from California so he could impress girls. She left too soon, but influenced so many lives along the way. Well done, Lin!
Roger, Syd, Brad, Aaron,
My lesson in Lins passing is that sometimes, bad things happen to good people. On the scale of good people, Lin will always be the benchmark for the rest of us mere mortals

Lin is a very dear friend and the best aerobic teacher
ever.
She will be missed by all her friends and family.
We have all been blessed by knowing her.
Lin you are so COOL!
Lin always had a smile on her face. Fifteen years ago, as much as I dreaded getting on those Reebok aerobic steps, I could always count on a warm greeting from Lin. She had an amazing spirit that undoubtedly will shine down upon us with every sunrise. She touched many lives, and she will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends, far and near. May the tough times ahead be filled with the loving memories you have held dear for so long. God Bless.

DeWitt Familky,
Our family was saddened to learn of your Mother’s death. Your mother touched our lives in the early years of our daughters battle with Cystic Fibrosis. When our little girl was four years old Lin organized a aerobic-thon at CBRC to raise money to help all the children who were afflicted with this deadly disease. We were amazed with your mom and her energies to help others in all areas of her life was filled with geniune love and concern. She had been working to raise money for CF before we even knew what CF was.
Our 18 year old daughter, Emily, succumbed to CF four years ago . We met many kind and wonderful people along the journey through CF and your mom was one of those special people.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them , a day to love them and then an entire life to forget them. The memories of your mother’s energy and kindness will life on forever in the many lives that she touched.
The Greg Hart Family in Connell Wa.
I was fortunate to spend many happy days and nights in the DeWitt household growing up. I have so many memories of those days particularly with Lin and Sydelle. Though it has been many years since, I still hold a deep fondness for Lin, for her strength of character, and for the many kindnesses she showed me. Her passing is a devastating loss. My thoughts are with her family now and always.
To know Lin was to know goodness, truth and love.
God evidently needed a little shaping up as he called this angel home,my prayers are with you guys!
I met Lin in the 1980’s. She was at CBRC teaching arobics. She was always so caring and so full of love and energy. That is what stood out about Lin. She cared and she listened and she was always there for someone else. Each of us that even had a short time with her will always think of the special, beautiful person that she was. May God send each one of you as family and friends His Love and Comfort in this hard time of life. May you know He is always there.
Lyn, my aerobics instructor for more than 10 yr,was also my imspiration with her A-1 choreography & enthusiastic leadership. She made my life much richer. I am proud to have known her and saddened to learn she is gone.
We remember Lin with great affection from her time at St. Patrick`s Catholic School in Kapuskasing. She was such a lovely child and a fine student! Her promising future then appears to have been fulfilled by the positive influence she has had upon so many. May she rest in peace.
Lin made the hour starting at 4:55 PM the best time of my day. Her enthusiasm and encouragement made exercise FUN! She is responsible for pulling me out of a “middle-aged slump”, both physically and mentally. She was quite a lady!
We were blessed to know Lin and will miss her deeply. She was a ray of sunshine in our lives. I send heartfelt sympathies to her family.
Lin will always be remembered for her strength, love of family and self sacrifice. She is a wonderful woman, and I am proud to have been able to get to know her in the past 3 years. She has raised a wonderful family, and is a rock to remember, and pattern our lives after.
Greg spoke of Lin with great enthusiasm and fondness. He said she was so encouraging and full of life that it couldn’t help but spill over on everyone she met. Even though I never met her, Greg talked enough about her, that I came to know her. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Greg and Nancy Crawford
I am truly honored to have known Lin. She is my Super Hero,a Saint, and will always be in my heart. Lin is someone who if you were fortunate enough to meet her , your life would forever be changed. She taught us all how to Live !
To the DeWitt family my sincere condolences I Love you all.
Every Christmas season as we would pass Roger & Lin’s house on Thayer, Gary would comment on the great Total Energy Christmas parties Lin hosted there. For ten years I have heard about the decorations, the food, the atmosphere, the Christmas trees in every room, etc. Finally this past year I looked at him and said, “You know, if you would hire some employees, I too, could try and be a wonderful, holiday hostess like Lin DeWitt.”
We extend our deepest condolences to Roger and his family. May the memories of Lin’s smile, laughter, personality, sparkling eyes and courageous spirit sustain you in the days ahead.
Gary & Sandy Lehrman
Our hearts go out to Lin’s family in this time of sorrow. Although we have not seen Lin in years, our fondest memories will always be of tennis with Lin and Roger and her competitive spirit. She was a wonderful, warm person and will be missed by all who knew her.
Syd and Family: We were very sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. We know she is now at peace and is no longer in pain or reliant on others to care for her. She made lasting impressions on us-always smiling and energetic! I will miss seeing her at the Allied Art Show and around town. Please know we are thinking of you at this very difficult time and thereafter. With our love and condolences, Lisa and Ed.
She brought out the best in all of us in so many ways. We hope St. Peter has his cross trainers handy. He’s going to need them.
Our prayers are that each of the family can find a path forward and endure this tragic loss. God bless and keep you.
My heart goes out to all of the Dewitt family. Your loss is felt by many. Lin is known as “the aerobic instructor” but I think her instruction to us all went way beyond the gymnasiums walls. She taught many how to live life with a zest, and then remarkably how to die with dignity. Her impact touched so many. She was my co-worker, my teacher, my confidant, and most of all my friend. I will never forget her.
She is also the reason, Janet my wife has a Christmas tree in every room during the holiday season. What ever Lin did in her life, she did it up BIG!
What a remarkable woman!
Lin made everyone feel that they were special, and that they were special to her. I basked in the sunshine of her personality when she was an awesome:- aerobics instructor. Since learning of her illness I have been praying for Lin and Roger – praying that through Jesus’ death and resurrection they would know peace for the present and hope for the future.
Lin will forever be in our hearts. I will remember her sense of humor and positive attitude. I taught class right after Lin and my fondest memories are of the five minutes we shared passing the microphone. There was always a quick story or joke. Mark enjoyed working with Lin on her “quick little garden project” which extended over several months/years. We cherish the friendships we have developed with Roger and their children, because to know Lin is to quickly become part of her family.
Our deepest sympathies – we mourn your loss and celebrate with you her life.
Mark and Jennifer Nuzum
Lin….wow…Just an awsome person. She was an angel in disquise. I work at CBRC and everyone there remembers Lin for being the energy of the club…I just can’t say enough good about such a kind, sweet, caring lady. We will all miss her smiling face. What a sweetie.

It is with deepest sympathy and heartfelt sorrow that my family and I extend our condolences to the family. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Just sitting here going through and reading all the wonderful tributes and feeling so honored and proud to have you as my “big sis”…not only my sister but my best friend and mentor. You always were there to share in my triumphs and pick me back up when I faltered and I have tucked you away in that very special place in my heart, right alongside Mom. The strength and dignity that you displayed to all of us who loved you so dearly, will make each and every member of our family stonger and better…you led us so very softly and gently down this final path; never allowing us to waiver. I feel so fortunate to be a member of this wonderful family….I love you so much “Big Sister”
