Ardala Elizabeth Costello June 28, 1933 – August 31, 2005

“Come you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took me in; I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you visited me; I was in prison and you came to me.” The words of our Lord Jesus Christ

Ardala Elizabeth Costello peacefully went to rest on Wednesday August 31st, 2005 after a long and courageous battle with illness. She was born in White Plains, New York. She worked many years as an Executive Secretary at Hanford. She joins her parents, Leland Honn Knapp & Nora Belle Knapp and her beloved brother Leland Honn Knapp 1st. She is survived by her beloved husband of many happy years, Vincent Costello. Other survivors include son, Fred Giacci and wife Rosemary; daughter Laura Giacci Roth and husband Jake; Son Bobby DePalo; daughter Ardala DePalo; son Billy DePalo, daughter Laura Ponticello and husband Paul; daughter Linda Ponticello; son Vincent Costello, and son Steven Costello. Ardala loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Ardala was known and loved by many whose lives she touched through her generous and loving actions. She was tireless in giving of herself to those in need and those she loved. She treasured everything in life, and especially enjoyed travel to the Oregon coast, and to the Blue mountains. She enjoyed painting, cooking, and entertaining her many friends and family. She spread happiness to many through her caring and love, and continues to do so even after her passing. She had a special love of gardening and spent many hours meditating while helping her garden grow beautifully.

Ardala was a faithful member of the Cathedral of Joy in Richland. She was dedicated to her WOW group and to her participation on the prayer chain, praying for others health and well being daily. She and Vinnie have also been a part of a small group for fellowship and worship for many years.

A special Celebration of Ardala’s life will be held on Thursday, September 8th at 4:00 PM at the Cathedral of Joy. Our family would be honored to have you attend a reception immediately thereafter in the Eagle’s nest restaurant on the Cathedral campus.

French Cottage style flowers would be appreciated, Heritage floral at 737-8580 will be in charge of flower arrangements. A special plaque in her honor will be added to the Cathedral of Joy’s garden area. Contributions can be made to the American Lung Association in her honor.

A private ceremony and spreading of her ashes will be held at the Oregon coast for the immediate family.
