Ethel May Schaake

Ethel Ingham Schaake was born in Rawlins County, Kansas on September 24, 1903. She moved West with her family in 1913. She attended school at Touchet, Washington where she played basketball and was active in school activities. After graduating from Touchet High School she attended college at Cheney, Washington where she earned her teaching degree. She taught school at Wide Hollow a school close to Yakima, Washington for 12 years. While teaching there she met George Schaake, a local businessman. They married in 1936 and moved to Ellensburg, Washington. They were partners in Schaake Packing Company with George’s brothers. Ethel and George were active in community affairs and Ethel was very devoted to her parents, brothers and sisters. George was in a tragic accident in 1958, which took his life. Ethel remained in Ellensburg until 1994 at which time she moved to The Manor at Canyon Lakes, and from there to Guardian Angel Homes in 2003.

Ethel is survived by nine nieces and nephews and by numerous great- and great-great-nieces and –nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Dora Ingham; her husband George; six brothers and sisters; nine nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at Einan’s Funeral Home, Richland. Viewing will be Wednesday morning from 9:00-10:30 AM. Entombment will take place in Mountain View Cemetery, Walla Walla at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ethel’s name to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House, 2108 W. Entiat Ave., Kennewick, WA 99336.
