Julia Cantrell, a long time resident of Richland, passed away December 1, 2005. A deeply caring and giving mother and lady, Julia emitted integrity and lived by a belief that a person should always in some way “give back” by means of providing a guiding or lending hand to help its younger generation.

Julia was born an only child to Charles and Hellen Humphries on April 24, 1929 in Lincoln, Nebraska. As a child she lived in several places in Washington and Oregon and graduated from high school in Yakima, Washington, where she met and married George Cantrell. They lived in Yakima a short while and moved to Richland, Washington, where they raised five children. She worked as a mother and homemaker until George’s death in 1974 when she went back to school and rejoined the workforce. She worked in the purchasing department at Westinghouse Hanford Company for 11 years and retired.

Julia enjoyed reading, watching old movies, playing golf on Wednesday mornings, Toast Mistresses and participating in Treble Clef choir.

Julia is survived by her aunt Ruth Hardin of Richland, WA; son Donald and wife Denise of Astoria, OR; son Jim and wife Shari of Kennewick, WA; daughter Catherine and husband Dennis Kerwick of Richland, WA; daughter Jolene and husband Mark Lee of Seattle; daughter-in-law Sue; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Hellen; her husband George Cantrell; second husband Warren Bodah; and son Steven Charles.

Graveside service will be 10:30 AM Monday, December 5, 2005 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Richland.
