Carrie W. Craddock
09/09/1911 — 01/08/2006
From Richland, WA, US | Born in Walters, Oklahoma
Carrie W. Craddock
Carrie Craddock of Richland returned Home on the morning of January 8, 2006 at the Tri-City Chaplaincy Hospice House. She was 94 years old.
Carrie was born September 9, 1911, near Walters, Oklahoma. She was one of nine children born to James and Elizar Watson. She grew up a farm girl milking cows, working in the cotton fields and such. She was educated and graduated from schools in Verden, Oklahoma and received straight As for her entire schooling. So accomplished and impressive were her academic achievements that she was offered a full scholarship to continue her education at Oxford University in Great Britain. Of course, her Papa would hear nothing of the sort for a farm girl in Oklahoma in the 20s. She was also an all-star guard on the Verden High School championship girls basketball team. She recalled the memories of her basketball playing with pride and fondness.
She married Glen Craddock on Christmas Eve, 1930 and that beautiful and wondrous love story continued for nearly 60 years. They farmed for a while, in Oklahoma, and then followed construction in Oklahoma and Texas after Glen became an Ironworker. They became the proud, loving, parents of Susan, Glenda and Bill. In 1943, they adventured Out West to Richland where Glen worked at Hanford for nearly thirty years. Carrie worked at Payless Drugs in Richland from the late 50s until the early 70s and became a familiar, friendly face to Richland shoppers and her co-workers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Craddock, her daughters Susan Loveless and Glenda Marquis, her Mom and Dad and all eight of her siblings.
She is survived by her son, Bill Craddock, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a handful of great-great-grandchildren; her beloved sister-in-law Fay Finley of Verden, Oklahoma, and many dear friends.
Carrie was a longtime member of Richland Baptist Church and her faith and belief in God was always apparent. The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to Pastor Stanley Hughes, John and Jean Robinson, Carol White, and all the other church members who gave so much time, care, music, prayers and devotion to her.
Private burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland with Einans in charge of arrangements.
Her family cant envision nor equate her life to a cold, gray, dreary day and will thusly hold a memorial service in the spring, when the earth is more like her life full of sunshine, budding and blooming till the end.
Her family wishes to voice their appreciation to Dr. James Leedy and his staff, Dr. Christopher Ravage and his staff, the staff at Kadlec Wound Management, the staff of Tri-Cities Home Health and the staff and volunteers at Hospice House. Their kindness, compassion, caring and professionalism will never be forgotten.
For those not familiar with the Tri-City Chaplaincy and Hospice House they are a blessing of the highest order that has been afforded this community and this area.
The family also wishes to give a very special thanks to her neighbor, Judy Fisher, for her continued and devoted compassion and care.
Dear Bill:
Your mother, my grandmother, is and will for eternity be a good, intelligent, wonderful woman. I am so grateful that she and Grandpa Glen passed those special genes on to their children.
Thank you for all you have done for Grandma, Grandpa, and all of us nieces. Your thoughtfulness, care, and hard work are all examples of the fine family that we come from. We couldn’t ask for better relatives.
Our heritage means a lot to us. We greatly appreciate and will forever fondly remember the goodness of your mother and father, our grandparents. I thank Heavenly Father for the exemplary lives they led and the influence they and you have had in our lives.
May the Lord be with you always. Please stay in touch. We love you.
Ken, Vickie, Geoff, and Jared.
Our family is thinking of yours at this time of your loss. I have only good memories of Aunt Carrie and I’m sure I can say the same for all of my brothers.

Carrie was a wonderful woman whom I shall miss very much. She always had a kind word and went out of her way to do whatever she could for those she knew and loved. It was certainly my honor and pleasure to have known her.

Carrie is my Grandma. She took care of me when I was little, and I had the privilege and honor of being able to care for her when she had hip replacement surgery several years ago.
I have so many memories of Grandma–waiting on Christmas morning for her and Grandpa to come over before we could open presents; her and Grandpa holding hands while they walked; her clogging for us after Grandpa told us how good she was; her having biscuits and gravy or fried chicken ready for us when we arrived at her house; her chocolate cookies that were always my favorite.
It’s nice to think that she is now back with Grandpa and they can hold hands again.
Bill and Family,
Sorry to hear about your Mother, I only met her once or twice many, many years ago.
May your happy memories carry you through this time.
Former class mate, Shirley
We were saddened to hear of Aunt Carrie’s death but we know she is rejoicing in Heaven and visiting with Uncle Glen and the girls. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Our family is thinking of yours at this time of your loss. I have only good memories of Aunt Carrie and Uncle Glen. Deepest Sympathy to you all.
I remember Carrie and Glen from the years that I worked with Carrie at Payless. She was a special person and I always enjoyed working with her. My condolences go out to her family.

Bill,
I am deeply sorry for your loss, she was such a special person. I have very fond memories of her back to my early childhood. When she made me a dress for my 5th or 6th birthday, it was so pretty pink with white lace, but you had to wear it first before she gave it to me. I always loved to go to your house, it was always peaceful and your Mom was such a good cook. I enjoyed going to Payless and visiting her, she always had a smile on her face and lots of kind words. She was truly an Angel on this earth. She is now enjoying her life in heaven because of the life she lead here. I am sure she is preparing a place for you. You are in my thoughts and prayes at this hard time of your life.
Your first girl friend, Donna
When I think of my Grandma Carrie I think of ‘the gift’. She gave from her heart. The gifts she gave each of us were a part of her and are meant to be carried on and given again in love. Her life was a gift back to the giver of life and now her life is not over- but is just begun. I think that many of those life gifts that she gave each of us are not even fully realized yet, but that in her memory we will come across them as we continue to live our lives. May we ever treasure them, never forget them, and USE them the way she did! I am so honored to bear the gift of her name- Carrie – and an added bonus to hear MY Grandchildren call me “Amma Carrie”
Thank you so so much to everyone who helped take care of Grandma.
Aunt Carrie, I have loved you forever. I remember all the family reunions we would have when you came “back” to Oklahoma. You will be in my heart forever.
Deepest sympathy to the family. We are happy that Aunt Carrie got to come to the reunion one last time. Enjoyed visiting with her.
Dear Bill,
I am heartily sorry for the recent loss of your Mother. Moms are such a hard person to lose. I miss mine as keenly today as I did the day she let this earth–nearly 23 years ago now. My heartfelt prayers, thoughts and love are with you at this time. May God speed your healing from this deep wound and may God speed her journey Home. She is at peace now and take what comfort you can from that.
Love to you and your Family,
Judy Willox
