Betty F. Gallagher May, 12, 1936 July 7, 2006
Service: July 15, 2006
Betty F. Gallagher passed away peacefully at the Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, WA on Friday, July 7, 2006 due to a reoccurrence of breast cancer.
Betty was born to Theodore and Mabel Foxen in Walhalla, ND on May 12, 1936. When she was a child the family moved to Grand Forks, ND and then made another move to Yakima, WA when Betty was in high school. She graduated from Yakima High School in 1954.
Right after graduation Betty moved to Richland, WA and began working as a secretary for G.E. This was where she met her husband, George R. Gallagher, and they were married on December 14, 1957 at Richland Lutheran Church. Susan Kay was born in 1959 and Thomas Ray completed their family in 1961.
Betty and George loved taking the family camping and eventually built a cabin at Priest Lake, ID where they spent every summer vacationing while their family grew. She also enjoyed cruising and vacationing with her friends. She played bridge with these same dear friends for close to 40 years and was part of a sewing group that still meets today.
Betty was an extremely devoted mother, spending countless hours watching her children play sports. Rumor has it that she never missed a game! Her latest joy has been watching her grandchildren do the same. She also spent her time in the Vista Junior Womens Club serving as a member and officer for many years.
Betty will be dearly missed by all. She had a smile and kind word for everyone she met and she will be remembered for that. Not knowing that her life here on Earth would be ending so soon Betty lived the last eight weeks with more quality then most people have lived the last eight years of their lives. Those who loved her and surrounded her would agree.
Betty leaves her daughter Susan and Mike Pfeifer of Redmond, her son Tom and Rena Gallagher of Spokane and four grandchildren, Kellie and Ryan Pfeifer and Gage and Regin Gallagher. Memorial services will be held at Kennewick First Lutheran Saturday, July 15 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Helga Jansons officiating. A reception will follow to celebrate her life.
Memorials may be made to First Lutheran or the American Cancer Society.

So sorry for your loss. Betty’s attendance at my mom Helen’s funeral 2 years ago was greatly appreciated.
Susan and Tom,
I am very saddened to hear of your Mother’s passing. I always liked Betty and enjoyed having her and you and your father as neighbors. You were the best kids I ever babysat and I would love to run into you some time. Betty was a great mother and my guess is a wonderful grandmother. You have been fortunate. Time will help heal the pain you feel right now, and know that others care and share your sorrow.
Love,
Janet
Tom, Susan and families
Your Mom and Dad were great neighbors to us for so many years. They were an inspiration in that they were always happy and encouraging to those around them and so tolerant of our young sons as they grew up.
More recently I would run into your Mom and she always had that warm friendly smile and kind words to share.
Since we all moved different directions, we didn’t see them often………….but we will never forget them.
Susan, Tom & Families,
Lee & I enjoyed so very much being able to spend part of June 30th with your mom. She is one of the kindest, sweetest friends I’ve known. We’re so sad to learn of her death and so thankful we were able to be with her. even if for just a few hours. Susan, I’ll email you some of our childhood and teen highlights that are so special for me to remember. please pass them on to Tom You’re all in our thoughts and prayers and hope all your wonderful memories will help! As ever, Jan & Lee
