From Richland, WA, US | Born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri

Freida D. Morgan

Freida Delora Morgan was born October 26, 1946 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the first child of Odell and Laneta Dolores Phelps Morgan. She was born with severe cerebral palsy and her parents were told she'd be lucky to survive to her teen years. With a lot of love and good care over the years she defied those odds and died in her sleep July 15, 2006 at Richland Life Care Center at age 59. She was cared for by her parents until she was a young teen, when she began to need more care than could be given in a home setting. She had been in several nursing facilities including Life Care where she had resided for the past several weeks. For several years prior to that she had lived in an apartment with a roommate cared for with love and devotion by the women from Walsh & Associates. They doted on her and even went to the extra effort involved in taking her out for various activities including trips to the Oregon coast and best of all, Disneyland, where she was awed to get to meet many of her favorite Disney characters. Freida was truly blessed by the special care from Dinai, Pam, Felicia, Stacy, Katy and others who were not just her caregivers but her extended family.

She is survived by her mother, Laneta Dolores Morgan, with whom she shared a special bond, brother Bob Morgan, nephew Mike Morgan, all of Benton City Washington; nephew Eric Morgan and wife April of Billings Montana and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Both sets of grandparents, her father Odell Morgan and several uncles preceded her in death.

Rest in peace sweet Freida. Although you never walked a step in your life, you walked into all our hearts.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 28, 2006 at Einan’s Funeral Home, Richland.

  • I remember how sweet Freida always was to my sister, Marcy Burnett. Marcy also has severe cerebral palsy and was Freida’s roommate at one time in the past. Marcy does not speak, but I’m sure she would want you to know that she loved Freida. How wonderful that Freida got to go to the beach and to Disneyland! Our sympathies to the entire family, from the Burnett family.

  • Freida will always remain in my heart as one of the happiest and most loving person I know. We used to visit for hours talking about boyfriends according to Freida, she had lots. I will miss you, my cousin. Give my Mom, Granny and Granddad a big hug and kiss for me and be at peace.

Aunt Dolores, you are in my prayers and thoughts. I love you.

  • My dearest TROUBLE,

I will miss you. All the times you got stuck on the wheelchair lifts at the Arc! Funny to you not me. I’m sorry I didn’t visit you more, I don’t have an excuse. Since I left the Arc it was so hard to go back, it broke my heart. Today my Morgan went in for surgery so I couldn’t be there to say goodbye. Goodbye Trouble and I’ll always remember you. Love Erin

  • I remember when I was younger visiting Freida with my mother Karen. She was always such a happy person and even though I didn’t get to visit her often, she always remembered me and brought a smile to my face and heart. I will think of her often….my prayers go out to you all.

  • I just listened to the song “Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones. That song and Wooly Bully always will remind me of you. Any time you were down, I could play either song and goof off for a bit and leave us both in a better mood. I miss you Freida.
