Joseph Leo Scott
Einans Funeral Home
Joseph Leo Scott, 53, of Richland, Washington went home to be with his Heavenly Father on July 1, 2006
Joe was born June 20, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was the son of Leo Perry Scott and Mable Isabelle McCoy Scott. He was adopted by Mable and Leo from a Catholic orphanage in Oklahoma City and later Joes mom and dad adopted his brother, John and sister Mary. Joe was Native American, and was thought to be from the Blackfoot tribe according to his adopted mother but was told by an Indian Chief he had the characteristics of the Osage Indian.
Joe and Carmen, whom he adoringly called Dolly, were high school sweethearts and graduated from Woodward High School in Woodward, Oklahoma. Joe and Carmen were married March 3, 1973. He attended Oklahoma State University, and at the age of 19 was the youngest licensed contractor in the state when he owned and operated Scotts Plumbing and Heating in Woodward, Oklahoma. Joe and Carmen later moved their family to Pinellas County Florida working in Saint Petersburg, Clearwater and Oldsmar while living in Palm Harbor. Joe and his family have made their home in Richland since 1999.
Joe is survived by his wife, Carmen Dolly Hanson Scott, the love of his life, two children whom he loved dearly, daughter Stacy Scott, called Spooney or Sissy by her daddy, son Cory Scott, He nicknamed Bud, both of Palm Harbor, Florida; a dear niece, Brandi Price of Topeka, Kansas; and a loving and giving sister-in-law, Julie Johnson and her husband, Gary, who was as close as a brother to him, of Hazelton, Kansas
Joe was a very kind and loving husband and father, and friend to all that he met. He has a wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, and a contagious smile. This humble and dignified man is loved by all who know him. He enjoyed playing golf, watching a variety of sports, loved cooking and wine tasting and enjoyed being with family and friends. His best friend was Gene Kernan who grew to be like a brother to him and Joe felt loved by the entire Keernan family.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday July 7, 2006, at the Cathedral of Joy 1153 Gage Blvd, Richland, Washington.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to: Hospice at the Chaplaincy, 2198 W. Entiat Avenue, Kennewick, Washington 99336 or No hungry Child The Honduras Children Fund at the Cathedral of Joy Church.

Dear Carmen,
I was sure sorry to hear about Joe. I have lots of really good memories of growing up just down the street from Joe and his family and the times I spent at their home. One of the first things I remembered was all of the rough football games we played on the Horace Mann playground. Joe was always such a super guy. You and your family are in my prayers.

Carmen, I’ve been thinking of you during this most difficult time. I would walk by Joe’s house everyday going to Horace Mann. Take care. Billie
One of my best friends in this industry. Although he left our area in 1999, his friendship remained with me. What a pleasure it was working with him and talking about his family with him. He was always asking about my family too. And then to meet Carmen, what can I said except that they were such a beautiful couple. His earthly body may be gone from this place , but his spirit will always have a place in my heart. I will miss my friend.

Dear Carmen,
My Deepest Sympathy on the loss of your husband and friend. I hope the thoughts and prayers of your friends will be of comfort to you. We haven’t seen each other in so many years, but friends are forever and are always in your heart. I have many fond memories of the Scott family and smile everytime I drive by their house on 1st St. I doubt if there was ever a dull moment. I am glad you had the happy years with Joe that you did.
Sincerely,
Sandy Heath Jividen

Carmen, my most sincere sympathy. Although Joe and John and I drifted apart in later years, their family were dear friends to me when I was an awkward, underconfident boy. Joe was a fine young boy, and clearly grew into an even better man.
God’s blessings on you all.
We remember Joe as a little boy when his dad and Joe worked together in Johnson’s Lumber Co. The family was so dear to us and we have lost connections with the children since his Mom and Dad passed away. Mary was the last baby to be born and we would like for her to get in touch with us. Our address is:
