John C. Bequette
John C. Bequette died December 22, 2006. He was born March 2, 1923 in Edgar, Montana to Charlie William Bequette and Una Vera Worster.
He was preceded in death his parents; sister Mary Mason; brothers Norman and Joseph Bequette. Survivors include brother William Bequette; sisters Grace Wood and Marjorie Gamwell; son John A. Bequette; daughters Jocelyn Bequette and Marjorie Lee Smith; six granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
John served in the 181st Field Artillery Battalion as a private in New Guinea during WWII. After the war he graduated from the University of Montana where he met and married Bertha Albert. They later moved to Benton City in the early 50s where John ran the lumber yard for a while. He was involved with the Fire Department for a while and a leader in the Boy Scouts when his son John A. was in scouting. Later in life he once again became involved with volunteering by helping with the food bank and being a greeter at his church.
He loved his family very much and went to most of the family reunions for the Bequette clan.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 19, 2007 at First United Methodist Church, 906 9th St., Benton City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, or First United Methodist Church in Benton City.
