From Richland, WA, US | Born in Yakima, Washington
Marie Ardelle Olsen
Marie went to join our Lord and Savior on July 12th, 2007 after a battle with ovarian cancer. She was born January 30, 1924 to Leslie J. and Mary Sheeley in Yakima, WA. She attended Yakima High School and graduated in 1944. She then moved to Seattle to work as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company. While living in Seattle she met the love of her life, Lewis S. Olsen. She relocated to the Tri Cities in 1945; Lewis followed and they were married on December 7, 1945.
Marie began working for Battelle Northwest in 1954 in the Technical Library and retired in 1989. Marie was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church and attended services regularly. Her hobbies were crocheting, fishing, gardening and chasing after her two grandchildren. Traveling around the country with Lewis and her two grandchildren gave Marie a great amount of joy and pleasure, especially their annual deep sea fishing trip to Westport, WA.
Maries loving, generous and selfless outlook on life will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We can all be assured that even though she is gone in the physical sense she will always be with each and every one of us spiritually as we go through our daily lives.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents Leslie J. and Mary Sheeley, husband Lewis S. Olsen, brother L. John Sheeley, and sisters Josephine Graverson and Leona Bryant.
Marie is survived by her son Robert C. Linda Olsen of Richland; grandchildren Jacob R. Olsen, Abbigayle R. Olsen, step granddaughter Jessica A. Gifford and great grandbaby Kassondra R. Olsen all of Richland; brother Gerald Sheeley of West Richland and Rita Ben Hayes of Kirkland, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Einan's Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 PM. A Vigil service will be held July 20th, 2007 at 7:00 pm at Einan's Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held July 21st, 2007 at 10:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Tri-City Cancer Center Foundation.
Marie I have missed seeing you in church. So sorry I didn’t check up on you to see if there was something I could have done to help. I will think of you every time I see the pew you sat in every week. I will really miss seeing you and our short visits.
I am very sorry! Marie was one of my favorite cousins ‘tho I hadn’t seen her since Lou passed. God bless her!!
Aleene worked for “Lew”, and we knew your mother/grandmother thur him. In recent years when Bob would see Marie at the store, I would always get an update on the grandchildren, of whom she was so proud. I particularly remember that there was a grandson who wanted Grampa’s car…she liked to tell me about that. A super lady and man, too….our sympathy to all of the family.
