Vada Mae Kelly Eckert, 89, of Richland, went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2007. Vada was born in New York State and was one of nine children.
She married Andrew Eckert in 1932 and they moved across the country to the young town of Richland in 1943. They were married for 66 years. He preceded her in death in 1999. Vada is survived by daughters Joan Sullens of Redding, California, Rita Small of Clatskanie, Oregon, Jean Imholte of Longview, Jinnie Stephens, Patti Weyers, and Mari Leahy of Tri-Cities; and sons Andrew Eckert of Seattle, Bob Eckert, Don Eckert and Chris Eckert all of Tri-Cities and vicinity; many dear grandchildren, sons- and daughters-in-law, and several great-grandchildren.
Vada enjoyed a lifelong love of nature and passed that appreciation on to her children. She lived simply and valued people above things. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of her life will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 5th at Einan's Funeral Home in Richland with graveside to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday the 3rd from 5:00-8:00 pm, as well as Thursday morning from 8:00 am until the service, also at Einan's.
In lieu of flowers it is suggested that memorials be given to individual's favorite charity.

We send our deepest sympathies to the Eckert family. Monica and Mari Leona were Christ the King schoolmates; and childhood friends. Monica spent many days at the Eckerts enjoying Mr. and Mrs. Eckerts friendly banter and welcoming at all times of the day or night. The home was filled with laughter; smells of home cooking; and lots of kids running around. We are blessed with those memories; and mourn with you in your loss. Our love, Betty, MonicaHayes+Mike Bishop and Ellen
My condolences to all of the Eckert family, all of you are the legacy that your parents have given and that is the measure of a lifetime well spent.
