Evalyn Gladys Berg

Evalyn G. Berg Evalyn Gladys Berg went to be with Jesus on June 10th, 2009. Evalyn, 88, of Richland, was born in the country near Lake Center, Minnesota to Olaf and Ida Moe on September 29, 1920. She graduated from Audubon High School. She lived in Richland since 1960.

She was first a storekeeper at Moe's Store in Minnesota; second a homemaker wherever we went, and lastly a housekeeper at Kadlec Medical Center. But mostly, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Minnesota where she sang in the choir with her friend Alice Rislund. She was active in the Lutheran churches wherever the family roamed, the last of which was Richland Lutheran Church. She loved going to the Auxiliary circles with her friends from the church as long as she was able. She was a very outgoing person, keeping contact with the family and her friends by mail and phone, and getting to know new people wherever she was.

The tumultuous world we live in is constantly looking for and in desperate need of role models. I think if they tried their best to live by her standards, a great deal of our troubles would be over.

She is survived by her sister, lone Diiro; son, Selmer O. Berg; grandsons Thomas Daniel and Jon Erik; and great grandson Tommy Lee.

She is preceded in death by her father, Olaf H. Moe; mother, Ida Moe; brothers Harlow O. Moe and Russell G. Moe; and husband Sigurd A. Berg.

The memorial service will take place at Richland Lutheran Church, Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 10:00am, with a light reception to follow hosted by the Women's Auxiliary.

Visitation will take place at Einan's Funeral Home on Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 10:00am to 1:30pm. Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens immediately following the visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to Richland Lutheran Church, 901 Van Giesen, Richland, WA 99352.

  • My Aunt Evalyn was one of the best. I only had the true pleasure of living with her, Uncle Sigurd, and Sam, for a brief period in our lives, but I will cherrish those memories forever. She was one of a kind, this is for sure. I will always remember her Beautiful Flowers around her home, which was the envy of all her Neighbors! She is now in God’s Hands, and at peace forever. We will miss her.

  • Evalyn was a pleasure to know. She had lived a few doors down from my mother, Sonia, at Wynwood. Evalyn always took the time to say hello and chat for a few minutes. She was a sweet lady. God Bless, Belinda Records

  • I am so sorry for your loss. Evalyn was one of the nicest ladies, always very cheerful, and never complaining. It was a pleasure to visit her. May the family have peace in knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior.

  • I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I worked with Evalyn at Kadlec. She was my Norewigan buddy. We had many good laughs and many good talks. She is now home with Jesus and singing with the angels. She will be missed by all who knew her.

  • When Aunt Evalyn was younger, she came to Minnesota occasionally to visit us in Moorhead and go “down home” to Lake Center to see family and friends. I was also able to get out to Richland to see her a couple of times too. She was always very easy to talk with both on the phone and in person and interested in everything we were doing as kids and later as adults. Over the years she has been so faithful in sending cards and letters for every occasion, even to my adopted daughter who she actually never even met! She truly was a shining example of living life for the Lord. We will miss her so much but are grateful to know she is now at peace in heaven. Blessings to Sam for his faithfulness as a son as well.
