Kathleen Connor was born October 31, 1943, to Lawrence W. and Rosemary M. Connor in San Diego, California. She died on July 25, 2009 while returning to Richland from her beloved town of San Jose del Cabo, Mexico to attend a reunion of her extended family.
She grew up in San Diego and Alexandria, Virginia. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Radford College in 1965 and began her professional career in Richmond, Virginia. In the 1970s, she worked in San Francisco. Later, she worked for the U.S. Department of Energy in Seattle and Richland, retiring in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Thomas Mann, a cousin, and his sons, Mike and Bob, survive. Her extended family includes Nancy and Gene Schreckhise, their children Susie and Rob Oram and children, Jake and Megan; Bill Schreckhise, his wife, Janine Parry, and children, Kate and Paul; and Randy and Heidi Schreckhise, and Bev Cadwell. Kathleen was a proud member of the Osage Indian Tribe.
She had a full, happy life and enjoyed each day. Her generosity and kindness touched many lives. She leaves many friends and will be missed very much.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM on the 10th of August. It will be held in Einan's Sunset Event Center at 915 By-Pass Highway in Richland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Benton-Franklin Humane Society or other charity of your choice.
Kathleen and I were friends in college and renewed our friendship about 6 years ago. She was one of my favorite people in the world, and I will miss her terribly.
We were proud to call Kathleen our friend. She had an uplifting personality and we miss her a lot. The past few weeks she has been on our minds a lot. May she rest in peace.
Kathleen was more than a friend to me. In the late 1960s and early ’70s, she inspired many memorable escapades in Richmond and Williamsburg and Danville, Va., and even in Carlisle, Pa. Kathleen sent me to visit her incomparable grandmother, Rosie-Posie Maloney Mahoney, in San Diego and I wound up staying for two months. What a wonderful woman! What a wonderful family! I cannot believe she is gone. My sympathies to all she left behind.
