RICHARD WARREN SHANNON
Richard Warren Shannon, age 71, passed away on June 28, 2009 in Richland, Washington.
Dick Shannon was born on April 22, 1938 in Bismarck, North Dakota. In 1960, following their graduation from North Dakota State University, he and his wife, Karen Salaba Shannon, moved to Richland. After several years at Payless Drug in Richland, Dick purchased Fishers Pharmacy in Kennewick, which he operated until his retirement. Over the past 49 years, Dick was involved in a number of organizations and ventures throughout the Tri-Cities. Dick had many interests, though besides his family, he especially loved hunting, fishing, and traveling, and had many fond memories of his time outdoors. Dick lived life to the fullest, though he will be most remembered for those he helped. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Rose Fleck Shannon. He is survived by his wife, Karen; brother Paul, of Bismarck; sister Mary Shannon Hoger, of Benbrook, Texas; son Bradley, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; daughter Kelli, of Seattle; daughter-in-law Ann Colburn Shannon; granddaughters Hailey Shannon Napier and Taylor Shannon; grandson Parker Shannon; and countless friends.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Dicks life on Sunday, August 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Meadow Springs Country Club in Richland.
Karen, Sorry to hear of Dick’s passing. I worked for him at Fishers 20 years ago. He was so good to me and such a pleasure to work for.
Karen, it was sad to read about Dick’s passing. I always thought of him as friend in addition to being in the same proffession. May the good menories of your “togetherness” make your sadness a little easier to bear.

We will miss our neighbor and friend. He was a friend to all and always willing to help in any way he could. I will miss hearing him yell that it was time to quit for the day. It is hard to understand why the good people go too soon.
Karen, I was so surprised to read about Dick’s passing in the TC Herald. Since Dick resigned from The Syndicate Stock Club we have not met very often. However, about a week ago I was thinking that we should finally get together next year in Maui. I always admired Dick on his knowledge of the stock market, and of course his personality for business and friendship. Joyce and I remember the great rasberries from your yard too. Would love to visit with you and family at MSCC on Sunday, but have to go to Spokane to ‘babysit’ our daughters dog. God bless you, and hopefully the many fond memories of Dick will give you comfort.
