Louise Meeks

Louise Meeks went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 24, 2012 with her daughter and friends by her side. She was born in January of 1928 in Eureka, California to Ray and Harrietta Evans. Her father worked at Zellerbach Paper Co. and her mother was a homemaker.

Louise graduated from Eureka High School in 1945. A few years later she met her future husband Joy Meeks at a dance in Korbell, California in 1948. They began dating and were married in 1949. Louise and Joy were often on the move as Joy was in the Marine Corps. They lived in Virginia, Oklahoma, California, and even in Japan. In 1973, they settled in Richland, Washington with their daughter Jennifer after Joy retired from the Marine Corps. Joy, Louise and Jennifer would spend many summer days fishing and camping, especially at the family's favorite spot of Rainbow Beach Resort in Twin Lakes, WA.

Louise was an active member of Richland Baptist Church where she was the 3-4 year old Sunday school teacher for many years and she also loved to sing in the senior choir. Louise was a great spiritual influence on her family. Each morning she could be found sitting at the dining room table studying her bible. This passion for God's word rubbed off on her family members.

After Joy died in 1990, Louise began traveling with friends. Her travels took her to places such as Honolulu, New Orleans, Atlanta, and on an Alaskan Cruise. Each year one of her favorite trips was to Cannon Beach on the Oregon coast with the seniors from Richland Baptist Church. Louise's other hobbies included gardening, playing Train, cooking, sewing and reading.

Louise was a fantastic grandma to her three grandchildren. As they got older, she travelled less because she didn't want to be away to miss a single moment with them. She would attend sporting events, school concerts, birthday parties, Grandparent's Day, or just spend time visiting with them. She taught them how to play dominos, would let them paint and do all the messy things their mom wouldn't let them do, and would even go out in the yard with them to help them find rolly polly bugs or pick raspberries.

Louise was always full of joy and her smile, sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by all who knew her.

Louise is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Rob Sitsler; grandchildren, Katelyn, Jillian and Colby Sitsler; sister-in-law, Betty Meeks; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joy Meeks.

Services held at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 5th, at Einan's Memories at Sunset Event Center, 915 Bypass Highway, Richland, WA, 99352. Visitation held Friday, May 4th, 5pm – 8pm at Einan's Funeral Home.
