Darlene "Jennie" Richardson was an amazing woman who left us to be with the Lord on December 12, 2012. Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family who passed the time with lots of reminiscing and laughter. She will be dearly missed, but she brought such energy to life, and her family and friends will carry that with them their whole lives.

Jennie was born Darlene Mae Jensen in Dennison, Iowa on May 24th, 1921 to her parents, Rudolph and Caroline Jensen. She was a farm girl with an older sister and brother, Lorraine and Lester, and a younger brother, Lon. She went to nursing school in Iowa and served as a navy nurse who especially enjoyed her time served in Hawaii. She came to Richland, WA after WWII with her friends and that is where she met the love of her life, Bill Richardson, in 1946. They had a truly wonderful marriage that lasted over 56 years filled with an inspiring amount of laughter and love. Bill passed away in 2001, and Jennie continued to have an enthusiasm for life and kept herself busy with so many special things, including following her grandsons' baseball careers, welcoming great grandchildren to the family and new friends which turned into great friends at Vintage Apartments.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Richardson, parents Rudolph and Caroline Jensen, sister Lorraine, brother Lester, and son-in-law, Mike Busser.

She is survived by her brother, Lon Jensen, her children, Grant and Julie Richardson of Bellingham, Ann Busser of Richland, Lynn and Pete Holmgren of Alaska, John and Karen Richardson of Richland, Janet Richardson and Jerry Free of Vancouver, WA, and step-daughter MaryBeth and Way Kidd of Georgia. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

After a private family service, friends and family are welcome to an open house on Saturday, December 15 from 3:30-5:00 PM at 211 Sitka Ct., Richland, WA.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Tri-Cities or Meals on Wheels.
