Dr. Larry G. Montague

Dr. Larry G. Montague Larry went to be with our Lord in Heaven on April 17, 2013 at the age of 65. He was born in Spokane, Washington on July 11, 1947 to George and Martha Montague.

Larry lived in Spokane for over 50 years. He graduated from West Valley High School. In 1972, he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa and started his practice in Spokane. While attending college he met and married Anita Danielson. Amy blessed their family in 1970.

In Spokane Larry was active in the First Church of the Nazarene and was a past president of Rotary International. After leaving the chiropractic profession he went to work at Heritage Funeral Home.

In 2001 Larry met Carolyn Young and relocated to the Tri-Cities. They married in 2002. Five years later, they moved to Prosser. Larry managed the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside. Larry was passionate about flying. He was president of the Prosser Experimental Aircraft Association. He enjoyed spending time with his fellow "wing-nuts" and flying his Ercoupe. He was the heart and soul of the Prosser Fly-In for the past 3 years.

In his free time, Larry loved to travel. He was very fond of cruises and recently cruised to Alaska and the Carribean. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family. He loved to spoil his kids and grandkids and was affectionately called "Papa".

Larry is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughter Amy Corwin Michael, step-daughter Carrie Wallace Nathan, step-son Ryan Young Chila, grandchildren TJ, Hannah, and Carter, and great grandson Michael. He is also survived by his parents George and JoAnn Montague, brothers Jerry Montague Bonnie and Kerry Montague Elaine, sister-in-law MaryAnne Montague, and several nieces and nephews. Larry is preceded in death by his infant son Russell, mother Martha, sister Connie, and brother Garry.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 1:00 at the First Presbyterian Church in Prosser. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the American Cancer Society.

  • So sorry to read about Dr. Montague’s demise. I was a patient of his in Spokane when he had his Chiropractic career and he helped me when I had problems with my back. My condolences to the family. I moved to the tri-city area some 19 yrs ago and was surprised he had moved also.

Can’t imagine how awful this must be for you. Although we lost touch w/each other in recent years, I knew you’d found a loving & fun man to spend your life with. I’m glad you had wonderful years w/Larry but sorry there weren’t many more! Sending you love & hugs from your oldest friend from grade school. Geez! • Dearest Carolyn,

I was so saddened to hear of Larry’s death. He was a good friend and when he took me flying for my retirement gift, I was thrilled beyond belief. He was such a big help to me in the funeral business, but even more than that, the friendship of both of you was a very special gift. I can’t be at his Memorial Service, as I am in Puyallup trying to repair some nerves in my leg due to back surgery. If it’s o.k., I would love to come and visit when you are ready for visitors.I am so sorry for your loss and will keep you and Larry in my prayers. Love you.
