John Allen Goodhope
Early on Saturday, May 18th John lost his courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was at home with all of his family's love surrounding him.
John was born on June 14, 1951 in Spokane, Washington to Clayton and Beverly Goodhope. John completed all of his education in Spokane, Washington. His greatest mentor in his life was his Grandpa Trowbridge. John was Grandpa Trowbridge's protégé. A day would rarely go by without John telling you an amazing story about his many learning experiences he had with his grandpa. John always had many wonderful stories to tell about his life of learning. He grew up having a natural mechanical ability always using it. John was such a strong, hard worker, with a heart of gold to help anyone.
John met the love of his life, Linda Kay Lathrop. They were married on May 9, 1970. Young and with all the confidence in the world John and Linda packed all their belongings and headed to California. John loved to travel and was always curious about what was around the next corner in his travels. They enjoyed California but Linda missed Washington so back they came and eventually settled in Davenport, Washington where they were blessed with two very successful sons, Ken and Gabriel. After more than 30 years of marriage Linda passed very suddenly after surgery.
John later met and married Julia Dana and resided together in Richland for the past 10 years. They were blessed with a very short but tremendously loving life together. John worked for the Richland School District Transportation Dept. He loved being a school bus driver. His goal was always to get healthier so he could return to work and see the students that he would drive to school. He also had a wealth of very treasured friends from work. He so missed being with them daily. During his courageous battle he and Julia always had the love and continuous support of his colleagues even through the darkest of days
John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Kay, Grandparents John and Ethel Trowbridge.
John is survived by his wife, Julia, sons Kenneth of San Jose, California, Gabriel and his wife, Jennifer, of Bellevue, Washington, step-son Daniel Dana and his wife, Shauna, and grandson Kolton, of Escondido, California, mother Beverly Griffin of Spokane, Washington, sister Darice Wolverton and her husband, Jerry, of Spokane Valley, Washington. John also leaves behind his many treasured nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 24th at 11:00 AM. We would like to remember the many great times John. Please share your special memories of John at Memories at Sunset Event Center located at 915 By-Pass Highway Richland, WA 99352.
