Doretta P Knight

Doretta was born on January 29, 1914 in Elsmore, Kansas. She was the 3rd child of 5 born to Zack and Ellen Bennett Price. She grew up on the farm in SE Kansas and she loved the growing season and always looked forward to the spring planting. Doretta married Raymond Knight in May 1931. During the first years of her marriage she worked in an alteration shop helping sew and alter clothes. When she lived in Portland, OR she had her own alteration shop; she could sew anything, from men's sport jackets to my prom dresses. They moved to Richland in 1951 and she started working for Hanford Environmental Health Foundation testing hearing; retiring after 25 years. Doretta and Raymond spent many winter months in AZ where they both loved the warmth and sunshine. Raymond passed away in 1984.

Doretta spent many years volunteering at Kadlec Hospital where she made many friends and enjoyed their companionship. The last few years she made baby hats for all the newborns and preemies. She was very proud of the hats she made, which numbered into the thousands. Doretta had over 10, 000 hours of time volunteering at Kadlec; she was very proud of the time she was able to share.

Doretta was preceded in death by her husband Raymond and son and daughter-in-law C.W. Joe and Laura Knight. She is survived by her Granddaughter and her husband and two great grandchildren, Jim, Paula, Brian and Mikel Kelly

Grave side services will be Wednesday at 11:00, Sunset memorial gardens. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice at 1480 Fowler St Richland, WA or Kadlec Foundation at 888 Swift Richland, WA
