Marguerite S Owings
Marguerite "Margo" Owings passed away August 13, 2013 in Kennewick, WA. She was born September 25th, 1921 in Orange Co. California to Orin and Rosa Simsen Smith. As a young adult she relocated to Tri-Cities where she met and married Chuck Owings. Their son Treg was born in 1958. A foreign exchange student from Bolivia, Mily, became one of the family in the 60's. The Owings raised their family in a prefab home in Richland. Margo loved spending time fishing and one of her favorite places to fish was Twin Lakes, WA. Margo and Chuck purchased a trailer at Twin Lakes where many friends enjoyed her hospitality over the years. In the trailer guest book the consistent statement was "no matter how the fishing was, the food and friendship were the best." In her later years, her favorite past time was her dog, Taz and golfing. She was preceded in death by Chuck, her 2 brothers and one sister. Her sweet tender spirit will be with us always. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 915 Bypass Highway, Richland. Fellowship to immediately follow at NW United Protestant Church.
Marguerite and Chuck were good friends of the Careys for many years. We shared an interest in fishing and in roses especially. She was a very generous and kind lady who was fun to be around.Our sympathy is extended to Treg in your loss of a special mother.
I’m saddened to read to the passing of Margo. She was a good friend of my father and me before his passing in 2000 and they had fun together. I really liked her but lost track of her whereabouts after she left the house on Thompson. I could not find where she went. I can only hope that she and Taz spent many enjoyable days together. I was around when they met. She was so nice to me and made absolutely the best potato salad, ever. I’m truly saddened by her passing.
We will always have fond memories of the many activities, trips, games and fun that we enjoyed with Margo and Chuck as close neighbors. Treg was a special friend of our son David Hamilton. The Owings Family was indeed a blessing in our lives. We extend our deepest sympathy to Treg and his family in the passing of his Mother, Margo.
