Harold, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather left us on September 23rd to be with his wife, Ruby. He was 93 years old.

Harold was born in Santiago, Iowa to Naomi and Arthur Goddard. He had one older brother, Francis. They moved to Mitchellville, Iowa and he lived there until 1942 when he enlisted into the Army Air Corps. He learned to fly first in gliders and then P63s, P39s, and P38s. Harold was a 1st Lt. and served over Europe in the 367th. He flew over 50 missions, flying the P38 and the P47 Thunderbolt which was his favorite plane. He was shot down his first mission and reported MIA, he was helped back to his unit by the underground, and he believed all missions after that were in the Lord's hand. In 1945, the Germans surrendered and Harold was on a ship headed toward the war in the Pacific. News came that the War was over and he returned to the States. Harold was a great American and loved his Country.

After the war, he moved to Richland, WA to be with his parents and was employed at Hanford. In 1945, he also met his future wife, Ruby. They were married in 1946. She was the most important and loved person in his life, even after death. In 1949, they had their only child, Linda, whom he always let know he loved. He retired from Hanford in 1985.

Harold loved carpentry and was very talented at it. He loved to fish and hunt, especially with Ruby after he retired. They traveled to Iowa and Oklahoma to see their families almost every year. After Ruby's death he bought a motorhome and traveled to Iowa to see his brother and his family.

In 2000, Harold bought a new home in Kennewick to be closer to his daughter and son-in-law. He loved to grow beautiful roses and wildflowers. He fed so many birds, ducks and squirrels for years.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother and wife and nephew, Paul. Harold is survived by his daughter Linda and husband Gary Earp of Kennewick, Granddaughter Lori, husband Jason Pegg and Great Grandson Ethan of Greenacres, WA, Granddaughter Jennifer Earp of Vancouver WA, niece Martha Williams and family, nephews Philip and James Goddard and their families, and numerous nieces and nephews on Ruby's side.

My Dad was a very loving and giving man who always was there for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed, but the memories he has left with us will be there forever. We know he is with Mom and our Lord and the happiest he has been in years. His life has been celebrated by family and friends. We want to thank Marilyn for all her help with Dad and especially Mary, for her devotion, love, and care these last few years. Dad loved her like the sister he never had. His daughter, Linda wants to thank everyone who celebrates his life with love. He was a wonderful and loving father.
