Jo D Ware Virginia Van Zandt Kluver, Grebeldinger 12-1927 to 09-2013

JoD Ware passed away peacefully on September 15, 2013 at her home in Benton City. The house is empty without her smile, her humor, her laugh and our everyday living. But the house is full of the memories made and good times had while she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Carol & Patrick the past six years. We were fortunate to have those times and moments and she is deeply missed.

Jo, Grandma Jo, Great Grandma, Mom...was a delight to all who met her. She had a warm and beautiful smile that was full of kindness and became contagious to those around her. We laughed, told stories, cried, prayed, solved the world's problems together I will cherish forever the time this shared time.

Mom was a homemaker and mother first. She married Carl Red Kluver and they lived in Kennewick and raised their family there. She was the family official hairdresser for years before she got her state beautician's license. She was employed at the Hanford area for a time, was a ham operator, and always had some sort of craft project going.

Growing up we had picnics, boating, camping, and fishing weekends. Mom was an avid camper and fisherman. Always a hit was her fried chicken, potato salad; the fresh caught fish fillets and her no bake cookies. The grandchild's delight was times spent around the table after a good meal when the banjo, guitar & harmonica would come out for a musical evening.

Mom was born in Seymour, Missouri. The family moved to White Bluffs, WA and eventually to Kennewick, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Carl Kluver and Donald Grebeldinger Sr, and siblings, Vernon, Phil, Eva, Willene & Don Van Zandt.

Mom is survived by her children Carol Mageehon, Sandra Gomez, Danny Kluver, their spouses and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

You were my everyday life these years you lived with me - I miss you so much - Carol

  • Mom, the house seems empty, I expect to see you here somewehere, but it isn’t empty really because of all the memories we made in here and outside. It’s hard to begin the day without you, everything I do you is still around what “we” are going to do for the day. The grand kids are sad they won’t be able to hug you, show you their treasures, talk with you anymore but they know you are happy up there in heaven seeing and hugging family, friends and Grandpa Pat. We had a storm Sunday night and everyone said you were up there kicking your heels up and having a good time. You sure did a good job!I love you and miss you, Carol

  • Mom, You were on my mind so much the previous week. I feel you with me constantly & am reminded of you as I see your Autumn crocus popping up everywhere in the flower beds~~your lovely pretty pink Hanford roses, strong & hardy like you, are another memory. I cherish so many memories & they are wrapped in my heart forever. You made the most delicious huckleberry pie ever!! I love all the recipes you wrote for me as I have each one in your handwriting along with the date. You lived life fully & set a wonderful example for each of us. You taught me how to sew & embroider & we had so much fun sewing my wedding dress together. I have the quilt you & your Mother made together & love to look at the stitches placed lovingly by hand. I miss our telephone conversations & knowing you were always there for me. Thank you for being Mom & giving me life…I miss you…Love~♥~Sandy

  • My Grandma Jo… I have great memories of spending time with you as a child and some very precious ones recently. I’ll always remember you saying about the color pink, “Is there any other color?” You had the cutest smile when you made your witty jokes. You will be remembered forever in my heart. I thought about you Sunday night after you passed and we had a huge storm. I figured you were making quite an entrance and celebrating with loved ones gone before. Thank-you for all you taught me, the time you spent with me, and the memories we shared. This is me squeezing your hand one more time and sending you my love always.

  • What a beautiful picture and sentiments. Although I only had the opportunity to interact with Great Grandma to my kids on a few occasions she was always very welcoming and kind. I know my Dad thoroughly enjoyed your company and sharing the time with you and Carol the last several years. I am sure he will be greeting you with open arms. Rest peacefully Grandma Jo.

  • I have the fondest memories of my Aunt Jo always positive, smiling, humorous with a cute giggle. She always made us do a trick for our treat on Halloween that produced that smile and giggle.Through thick and thin she maintained and was a pillar of family. I will always admire her.
