Thelma Elizabeth Rowan, 90, of Richland, WA departed this life on September 26, 2013. "Betty", as she was known to all, was born July 9, 1923 in Kansas City, MO to John and Thelma Boar.

During WWII, Betty traveled via Denver and Yakima to Richland, WA, where she met and married Bob Rowan in 1948. Betty worked at Hanford during and after the War. She enjoyed gardening and for a number of years during the late 1950's early 1960's, she and Bob were co-owners of Evergreen Spray Nursery in West Richland.

In the Mid 60s Betty began work as manager of the garden department at the Payless store in Pasco. She continued to work for Payless, which became Rite Aid, until her retirement at age 75.

Betty lived at the Ponderosa Retirement Center in Yakima for the past ten years, and was lovingly cared for by her devoted daughter Jean Pryor for the last 12 years of her life. Betty's family wishes to extend our considerable thanks to all of the Staff at the Ponderosa. Their outstanding care and love for our mom provided her with a comfortable, safe and happy home.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Bob and her dear daughter Barbara Holloway. She is survived by daughter, Jean Pryor Rod; son, Robert Kathleen; grandchildren Deven Morgan Michelle, Sam, Elizabeth and Grace Rowan and her great-grandchildren Cora and Daniel. Her grandchildren and great-grand-children brought great joy to her retirement years.
