On the morning of September 3rd, Warren "Whitey" Harding Sevier passed away, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was at home in Priest River, Idaho, surrounded by his family. Warren was 90 years old.

Warren was born September 4th, 1922 in Marcellus, NY. He was the fourth child and the third son of parents Mildred Dunford Sevier and John Caleb Sevier, Jr.

Warren grew up in a large, busy family during the Great Depression. As a youngster he felt lucky to have a job when men with families had a difficult time finding work. He took part in the local WPA Works Project Administration where he took lessons in ping-pong, boxing and other fun activities. He graduated in 1940 from Mayfield Heights High School.

In 1942, at the age of 19, he joined the Merchant Marines and set off to serve his country during WWII. His first assignment the Liberty Ship "Robert Rowan" was bombed and destroyed in July of 1943 off the coast of Sicily. The entire crew survived and Warren went on to serve on six additional Liberty ships. None of which were destroyed. He gained veteran status in 2008.

After leaving the Merchant Marines, Warren returned to Ohio and his family. In July of 1950 he was contacted by GE and given a job offer to work at Hanford and live in the "Village" of Richland. He took the job, moving across country to live and work in Washington State. He worked at Hanford for GE, ARCO & Rockwell until his retirement in 1988. Not long after moving to Tri-Cities he met the love of his life in Spokane. They were married, and soon after built their own home, in the Tri-City Heights. Warren was widowed for the first time in 1975. He married again in 1978 and was widowed in 1998. Warren lived in the Tri-Cities until moving to Idaho to live with his daughter and her husband.

Warren was very active in his church, Central United Protestant Church CUP. It was a passion for him. He spent time in Africa helping to build several churches and he also enjoyed the time he spent with his bible study group. Warren was very active in his community. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was also a member of the Mid-Columbia Chapter of the Merchant Marines and a member of the Kiwanis, Rotary, EAA, CAP, and the ISA. Another true passion of his was the game of golf. He loved to play. When his son was young he also enjoyed being a Scout Master in the Boy Scouts. He was a private pilot. Learning to fly in a "pea patch" in Euclid, OH. He also had a passion for ballroom dancing.

Warren was preceded in death by his mother Mildred, father John Caleb Jr., sisters Stella, and Margaret, brothers, Homer, Irving, Herbert, and Ernest, and wives Ferne and Edora and numerous in-laws.

Warren is survived by his sister Irene Sevier Dowdall of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, brother William "Billy" Mary Sevier of Pinellas Park, FL, sister, Genevive "Jean" Sevier Pettay of Ohio, daughter Nadine Sonny Parker of Priest River, Idaho, son Robert "Bob" Sevier of Charlottesville, VA, step-children Leroy Earlene Lewis, of Mulkilteo, WA, Gale Dee Lewis, of San Diego, CA and Joanne Lewis Bishop of Pasadena, TX. Along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
