Newell M. "Ace" Oyen died on November 17, 2013 at the Tri-City Chaplaincy Hospice House in Kennewick, WA at the age of 90. He was born in Baltic, SD on November 4, 1923 to Iver and Ida Oyen.

Newell attended school in Baltic where he graduated from Baltic High School in 1941. Following his graduation he served his country in the US Army during WWII, serving in Europe at the Battle of Bulge.

After his discharge Newell worked in shipping and receiving for a manufacturing company in Sioux Falls, SD prior to moving to Richland WA in 1967. For the past 26 years he was a resident of the Luther Senior Center.

Preceding him in death were his four brothers, Earl Bennett, Alden, Ihelm and Dean Oyen and his parents. Survivors include his two sisters. Ethyl Bob Somerville and Lila Dozen Lloyd, both of Richland, one step-daughter, Mary Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD, one sister-in-law, Harriet Oyen of Des Moines, WA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Newell shared his love for music by entertaining his friends with his singing and clarinet and piano playing. He was member of the Richland Lutheran Church.

A memorial service will be held at the Lutheran Senior Center, 625 Berkshire Place in Richland on Saturday, November 23 at 1:00pm
