From Richland, WA, USA | Born in Greeley, Colorado
Roxetta Lee Wyer
Roxetta Lee Bostrom was born in Greeley, Colorado on April 21, 1936. Her parents, Adolph Bostrom and Emma Eckhardt were German wheat growers who farmed near Greeley. They moved west to Oregon and then California where Roxetta attended high school in St. Helena, California. After she graduated from high school she went to work for the California State Board of Equalization as a legal assistant. She continued working for the Board until her second marriage to Russel Wyer 1979. She moved to Virginia to be with her husband and worked as a legal assistant for several law firms in Manassas, VA. In 1991 they moved to Clayton, CA where she did community service work. After a living in Clayton for three years they move to the Tri-Cities and she did volunteer work with the State Attorney General Office and the State Sheba program.
She was unable to have children but through her second marriage she had three step-children that became her closest friends and she helped guide them through their lives. Her great delight was to see her five grandchildren grow-up into young adults. She was very family oriented and enjoyed her family and families of her many friends. She was always interest in the major event of all their lives.
Her great passion was gardening and she became a Master Gardner in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a life member of the Virginia Wildflower Society. Upon arriving in the Tri-Cities she was delighted to challenge the dry desert environment and create a wonderful home garden. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she would create elaborate Christmas displays throughout her home. She was unable to decorate this year because of her 20 month battle with cancer and a failing heart. During this period she was always a trooper and was willing to take on all challenges up to the very end.
She is survived by her husband, sister Rona Franzoia, brothers Tom and Michael Bostrom, nephews and niece Brian, Mary and Kyle Franzoia, and Carrie and Michael Orlandi, Coleen, Tom Jr. and John, step-children Yvonne Escobar, Kathleen and Scott Armstrong, Chris Wyer and five grad-children Bryn, Camryn, Brandon, Izabella, and Gabriella, and her very dear friend Linda Spinner who helped her through many trying days.
A celebration of her life will be held in the spring in Napa, California and in the fall in Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Hospice at the Chaplaincy, Richland, WA
